About the role
Chariot is an AI-native consumer protection platform that originates, underwrites, and resolves mass arbitration and class claims at scale. We operate at the intersection of consumer litigation, structured finance, and legal services regulation — which makes this a broader GC seat than the title usually implies.
This role reports to the CEO and owns the company's legal function end to end; you’ll be the business’s lawyer. This role is not running litigation strategy or the case/claimant docket, but does require familiarity with litigation.
What you'll own
Commercial contracting: vendor, data, partnership, and enterprise agreements
Corporate and financing work: equity financings, cap table hygiene, board materials, option grants, and cross-border employment questions
Litigation finance: negotiating and administering debt facilities
Regulatory / Ethics: legal-services regulatory regimes that govern alternative business structures
Privacy and data: policy drafting, CCPA/CPRA and state privacy compliance, vendor DPAs, and handling claimant data at volume
Outside counsel management across corporate, litigation, ethics, and regulatory specialties
Defense-side correspondence: triaging cease-and-desists and threatened litigation from large-firm counsel
Company-side risk: employment, IP, marketing review, and AI governance for our own products
What we're looking for
7–15 years of experience, with a mix of top-tier firm and in-house time
Real transactional and corporate depth
Litigation experience or exposure sufficient to read a complaint, pressure-test a claim theory.
Comfort operating without precedent; in a business model that doesn't map cleanly onto existing categories. Highly curious and learning/growth-driven.
Bonus

Prior work in debt financing
Skills Required
- 7-15 years of legal experience
- Mix of top-tier law firm and in-house experience
- Strong transactional and corporate legal experience
- Litigation experience or sufficient exposure to review complaints and assess claim theories
- Ability to operate independently in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving business environment
- Existing relationships with in-house legal leadership at Fortune 500 companies
- Experience at a high-growth startup through a priced financing round
- Prior debt financing experience
