Kivo Health is a series A healthcare AI company delivering AI-powered care to seniors with chronic disease, starting with chronic lung disease (COPD). Backed by top tier investors, including YCombinator, Kivo is growing fast towards achieving its mission to help 1 billion seniors breathe easier and live better.
About the RoleKivo Health is building a tech-enabled healthcare clinic to help real people breathe better, using innovative technology to make a lasting impact. We're YC-backed and well-funded, and looking for a fullstack engineer to join our small, high-leverage engineering team in Seattle.
You'll work alongside a diverse team of industry experts in healthcare and startup technology. Our engineering team is intentionally small and made up of generalists rather than specialists, so you'll move fluidly across dev tooling, product features, and core web app work. Our stack includes Python/Django on the backend and TypeScript, React, and React Native across web and mobile. This is an in-office, Seattle-based role.
We're hiring for multiple engineering openings across a range of experience levels. Final title and compensation will be based on your background and interview performance.
What You'll DoDesign, build, test, and ship software across our web and mobile platforms, using AI tools to work efficiently and effectively.
Build tooling that makes the whole engineering team faster and more effective.
Solve genuinely hard problems in the product.
Work on core web application features for both patients and internal users.
Continuously look for ways to improve our tools, workflows, and the product itself.
You've fully embraced AI to co-create software, using it not just to write code but to test it, design it, and build agents that extend what you can do.
You're a software generalist, comfortable moving between dev tooling, product features, and general web app work as the team's needs shift.
You thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven startup culture and are comfortable with ambiguity on a team that's still actively defining its own practices.
You're excited to work directly with the company founders on a small team where your work has outsized visibility and impact.
You have a strong desire to make a positive impact on people's lives, and you're motivated by the mission here specifically.

What We Do
Kivo Health is a YC-backed healthcare startup rebuilding pulmonary rehabilitation as a virtual, tech-enabled program for people with COPD, a condition affecting up to 30 million Americans, costing the system nearly $60 billion a year, and reaching fewer than 3% of eligible patients today due to access barriers like transportation and limited clinic capacity. Our 9-week virtual program pairs a connected tablet kit with live small-group sessions led by respiratory therapists and continuous real-time vitals monitoring (patents pending), letting clinicians safely guide patients through exercise from home. We just closed an oversubscribed $10M Series A led by Allumia Ventures (total funding over $16M), backed by a peer-reviewed study showing a 24% improvement in symptoms and 83% median attendance, and we’re already covered by major payers including UnitedHealthcare, Humana, and Medicare. Our engineering team is small, generalist, and genuinely AI-native, agentic coding is part of day-to-day workflow, not a bolt-on. Engineers move fluidly across dev tooling, product features, and core web app work on a stack built on Python/Django and TypeScript/React/React Native. With new capital behind us, we’re hiring across multiple engineering levels in-office in Seattle, for people who want outsized ownership on a problem with real clinical stakes.
Why Work With Us
We just raised a $10M Series A to fix a healthcare problem the system has ignored for decades. Small, founder-led team, real ownership from day one, no layers between you and the people making decisions. We pioneer new paths for patients written off, own outcomes, and chase a mission worth chasing: 1 billion people breathing easier.
