About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Front Office Receptionist to join a busy, patient-centered medical practice in Shrewsbury, NJ. This role is ideal for a highly organized, tech-savvy professional who thrives in a fast-paced medical environment and takes pride in delivering an exceptional patient experience.

In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients and work closely with the provider and broader team to support daily front office operations. You will help ensure a seamless, professional patient experience from initial scheduling and check-in through check-out and follow-up.

This is a hands-on, onsite role that requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and emotional intelligence. The ideal candidate is a quick learner, team-oriented, comfortable with technology, and confident balancing multiple responsibilities in a busy practice.

This is not an entry-level role and is hiring ASAP.

What You’ll Do
  • Greet and check in patients, creating a welcoming and professional first impression
  • Manage patient scheduling, appointment confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling
  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls while providing timely, professional assistance to patients
  • Verify insurance information and patient demographics
  • Collect copays and patient payments and assist with basic billing coordination
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure proper documentation in the electronic health record
  • Coordinate patient check-out, follow-up appointments, referrals, and other next steps
  • Use EHR and practice management systems efficiently and adapt quickly to new workflows, tools, and technology
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, clinical staff, and outside offices
  • Help maintain an organized and efficient front office workflow throughout the day
  • Anticipate practice and provider needs and proactively address administrative tasks
  • Handle sensitive patient information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Demonstrate a strong team-oriented mindset, stepping in where needed to support patients and colleagues
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, respectful, and patient-focused practice culture

  • Previous front office or medical receptionist experience required — this is not an entry-level role
  • Experience working in a medical practice, healthcare office, or similar patient-facing environment
  • Strong understanding of patient scheduling, insurance verification, copays, and front office workflows
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and intellectual curiosity
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, providers, and staff
  • Comfortable with technology and eager to learn new systems quickly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and interruptions in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to maintain empathy, professionalism, and accuracy even during busy or challenging situations
