Cota Robotics puts robots to work in retail stores. They take on the repetitive, time-consuming jobs like inbounding goods, replenishing shelves and sorting stock, currently mostly overnight. They're driven from our control room in Stockholm and increasingly run on their own. We raised a €1.92M pre-seed in August 2026 and are live with retailers in Sweden and Finland. We're a small team based at Sankt Eriksgatan in Stockholm, where half the office is our own dark store.
The role
We design and assemble our own robot platform in-house. It's CE-marked and working in customer stores, and it's far from done. You'll own the physical robot: from concept and CAD through prototyping and 3D printing to manufacturing and assembly at scale. You'll see your work running in stores within weeks.
What you'll do
Concept and visualize new products and subsystems
Model structures, mechanisms and enclosures in CAD
Prototype rapidly and iterate from what you see in stores
Design for manufacturing and assembly, and take designs through to production
Apply solid hardware fundamentals: GD&T, tolerances, tooling, material selection
Move fast
What we're looking for
Attitude first: high agency, you spot the problem and ship the fix without being told
A strong track record in hardware design, or an unreasonable appetite to build one
Comfortable in a fast-moving, unfinished environment where the plan changes
Ready for long weeks when it matters and demos that have to work tomorrow
Fluent in English; Swedish is a plus
You must already have the right to work in Sweden, as unfortunately we're not able to offer visa sponsorship at our current stage
Why join
A founding role with ownership of the hardware
Meaningful equity
See your designs running in real stores within weeks
Shape the next version of the robot
Skills Required
- Strong track record in hardware design or a demonstrated appetite to build one
- Experience with concepting and visualizing products and subsystems
- Experience with 3D modeling and CAD for structures, mechanisms, and enclosures
- Rapid prototyping experience
- Design for manufacturing and assembly experience
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, tooling, and material selection
- High-agency, fast-paced approach to identifying problems and shipping solutions
What We Do
Cota Robotics builds and deploys a turnkey robotic workforce for retail chains, using AI-powered, general-purpose robots to automate repetitive, time-consuming store work such as shelf replenishment, inbound handling, and picking. Its robots operate around the clock within existing stores and workflows without requiring retrofits. Cota manages deployment and ongoing operations, while the robots create a live 3D digital twin that provides real-time visibility into stock, pricing, and planogram compliance.
