Overview
ISS STOXX Sustainability is seeking for Research Analysts to join its Corporate Ratings Team in Manila. The role supports the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative environmental and social data across sectors including Energy, Materials & Utilities, Technology, Media & Telecom, Consumer, Financials & Real Estate, and Industrials. The research contributes to ISS STOXX Sustainability’s market‑leading Corporate Ratings and broader ESG solutions.
As part of the global Sustainability research team, analysts evaluate company sustainability performance using proprietary methodologies, reviewing disclosures such as sustainability reports, annual reports, and corporate websites. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance structured methodologies with critical thinking.

Responsibilities
Systematic ESG data gathering from company disclosures (e.g., sustainability reports, annual reports) and ESG data processing, research, and analysis in line with ISS STOXX Sustainability methodology. The Research Analyst needs to have an in depth understanding of, and strong interest in, macro-level ESG issues.
Taking ownership of production targets and delivering the research within timelines outlined in the processes and quality standards.
Coordinating with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure that production is completed on time without compromising on quality.
Specialization on one or more industries, acting as the internal and external industry expert, being responsible for tracking and monitoring key ESG developments and trends in the sector.
Constantly endeavoring to develop knowledge and expertise on ESG themes associated with corporate ratings. Supporting the ratings team by the means of thought leadership and research publications, methodology reviews and ESG market developments monitoring. Make suggestions based on domain expertise to evaluate new data sources.
Demonstrate proactiveness with a strong sense of ownership for the work under his/her responsibility.
Acting as a process expert regarding production aspect, conducting tutoring and process relevant training based on experience and expertise in specific sectors.
Participation in quality assurance procedures. Support implementation of quality control measures and oversee research conducted by other analysts. Review the analyst written Sustainability reports and manage high quality standards with regular Sustainability quality data checks.
Qualifications
Must have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in a sustainability-related field (environment, labor issues, human rights, etc.), financial services, ESG research/Sustainable finance/Credit Ratings, think tanks focused on sustainability, or academic research institutes/universities.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree (a degree in a relevant field such as sustainability, development studies, environmental science, or international human rights is desirable but not required, knowledge of financial markets and sustainable finance is an advantage). An MBA with a sustainability concentration is also desirable.
Preferably have knowledge in the following base/industry exposure:
Oil, Gas, Energy, and Wastewater Management
Engineering & Construction
Financial Services
FMCG (Retail, Food, & Beverage etc.)
Media and Telecommunications
Strong research and analytical skills (this includes planning and delivery, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence and quality control).
Integrity, organizational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
Adaptability, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment and field.
Ability to work independently while adhering to deadlines and balancing production volumes with high quality.
Ability to quickly process large amounts of data and information.
