JOB SCOPE
The System Engineer IV, is part of the Operational Support System (OSS) organization who is responsible for enterprise solution engineering, development, configuration and the operations for various monitoring application including but not limited to CA Spectrum, CA Performance Center, CA UIM, Netcool and Trap Station for Charter Communication.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for developing, testing (acceptance test), implementing and supporting systems
Integration solutions based on existing OSS standard solution and architecture.
Additional responsibility also includes but not limited to supporting, maintaining the stability of the environment and assuring the availability of the platforms for our internal and external customers.
Responsible for identifying process improvements to increase the performance and capacity in the environment for improved efficiency and quality.
Provide strategic and forward planning for technical improvements
Mentor junior engineers
Monitor and assist in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance
Lead design review sessions
Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an outage
On-call Support rotation

BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience
Minimum of six (6) years of Experience with architecting, supporting and implementing OSS technology solutions
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in supporting monitoring applications
Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting CA Applications (Spectrum, Performance Manager and UIM)

ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate at both a technical and business level
Working knowledge with the following Splunk, HPNA, Remedy, Granite, Kafka, Linux, RedHat, Netcool
Demonstrates experience with troubleshooting complex technical issues in a large environment
Technical writing experience in documenting processes and procedures
Issue resolution and process orientation skills with the ability to balance competing priorities
Ability to communicate and influence the business and technical team
Ability to work independently or collaborate with other teams and teammates on cross-functional projects
Understanding OSS architecture, strategy and business operations
Scripting experience (Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell)
Environment experience with redundant and high availability OSS implementations
In-depth understand of SNMP and IP protocol
Experience with incident response management

The pay for this position has a minimum of $85,900.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.

But one in particular excites him most: defining a common set of standards for Charter’s backend API services across its many platforms. “We hope to consolidate our services in order to make them easily consumable by our web, mobile and TV-OS applications,” Bonds said. "Once developers are up to speed on the new architecture, it will allow us to develop new services in a shorter timeframe and get new product features out to customers faster."
