Distinguished Engineer (MTD-Multiple Technology Domain)
The Charter Technical Engineering Center (CTEC) facilities in Englewood, CO oversees the design and architecture of Charter's multi-billion dollar network infrastructure. We investigate, select, develop, and integrate technologies and solutions that meet the needs of the company for short, medium and long term initiatives. This includes the delivery of the technology plan and future architecture for Voice, Video, Data, Optical, Commercial, Cloud, CPE, Network and Access.
JOB SUMMARY
Recognized as a thought leader in multiple domains within Charter and across the industry. Technical expert with a strong track record of growing and influencing others. Responsible for helping shape the go-forward direction of the organization; working with senior leaders, vendors, and partners to influence technology roadmaps and the adoption of new technologies across the enterprise. We are seeking engineer who has distinguished themselves in the cloud-native space. This individual needs to be a proven thought leader in the areas of telco/cable workload evolutions, cloud infrastructure and modern cloud-native approaches to software design and management. This individual would be expected to push for Spectrum best interests throughout the industry, by mapping the company's current needs to evolving trends of software development and deployment in the CNF space. Additionally, this individual needs to have a proven track record of being able to design end-to-end architectures that account for the deployment and management of workloads destined for Spectrum heterogeneous edge and cloud environments.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
- Must have a strong understanding of the intersection between service providers networks and the cloud-native software, cloud infrastructure domains.
- Must have experience designing end-to-end cloud solutions that factor in VNF/CNF optimizations, service provider operational environments and multi/edge-cloud infrastructure.
- Proven thought leadership in the opensource CSP groups (LFN, LFE, CNCF, ONF).
- Expert level knowledge of Linux networking, virtual network functions and cloud-native/container network functions.
- Expert level knowledge of Kubernetes: primitives, networking/ingress, service discovery/mesh, and security.
- Expert level knowledge of at least one private and public cloud provider.
- Experience in both consuming and building cloud services.
- Expert level understanding of AGILE software life-cycle management.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner.
- Expert knowledge in network/platform/system design, architectures, protocols and relevant topologies.
- Expert knowledge in TCP/IP, IPv4 and IPv6 and the OSI Model.
- Expert knowledge of network devices, network appliances and servers.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex problems in a simple and effective manner.
- Extensive industry experience in network architectures, and technologies.
- Demonstrate some telecommunication industry leadership.
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Ability to create a business case encompassing business and technology requirements.
- Ability to self-study new technologies.
- Strong ability to communicate technology to non-technical senior business leaders.
- Self-driven individual with the ability to deliver major projects with minimal supervision.
Education
Master's Degree in Engineering
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)

The pay for this position has a minimum of $151,300.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
