About the Role
We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to join our hardware team and help design, build, and test the electronics inside MOBY’s underwater robots. Working alongside our engineers, you will take boards from schematic and PCB layout through assembly, testing, and integration into functioning robotic systems.
What You’ll Do
• Assist with system planning, schematic design, and PCB layout for underwater robotics subsystems
• Design power distribution, regulation, and interface circuitry for compute and sensor boards
• Assemble, solder, test, and integrate PCBs into various projects
• Test, debug, and troubleshoot electronics at the board and system level
• Collaborate with engineers on fit, thermal considerations, and serviceability
Requirements
Required Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Familiarity with the hardware development workflow and PCB design software
• Strong hands-on skills, including soldering and standard lab equipment
• Experience designing PCBs around microcontrollers and embedded Linux platforms
• Ability to work with electronics in space-constrained or confined enclosures
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with circuit simulation tools
• Experience with 3D modeling CAD software
• Programming experience
• Prior project, club, or coursework experience in robotics or embedded systems
