The Work
As an Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise throughout the shipbuilding lifecycle, helping ensure electrical designs are accurately translated into production and that as-built systems meet performance, quality, and safety requirements. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers, shipyard personnel, and cross-functional teams to:
- Update and release electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness layouts based on approved design changes.
- Verify ship cable databases against design requirements and coordinate resolution of discrepancies.
- Review 3-D electrical models using tools such as CAD and Navisworks to validate equipment placement, clearances, and cable routing.
- Track and manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), communicating impacts and ensuring timely execution and closure.
- Develop and review as-built electrical documentation based on field changes and verification data.
- Conduct onboard ship checks to verify installations and ensure documentation accurately reflects the vessel.
- Support resolution of critical production issues by developing change documentation and coordinating corrective actions.
- Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and briefings while maintaining clear documentation for internal and customer use.
Travel of up to 25% is required, including monthly collaboration meetings in Moorestown, NJ (typically 1–2 days) and periodic visits to the shipbuilder in Marinette, WI (typically 1–2 weeks at a time).
