Description

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to drive the technical direction and architectural evolution of our cloud-based IoT Connectivity and Device Management platform.

The platform comprises distributed, Go-based backend services supporting IoT device connectivity, device management, telemetry, web-based applications, and integrations with external systems and cloud providers.

The successful candidate will own architectural decisions, guide the design and implementation of scalable and reliable services, and establish engineering standards that support platform performance, security, maintainability, and long-term evolution.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecture and engineering direction rather than people management. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Go development experience with a strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, data platforms, and production operations.

Requirements

Architecture and Technical Direction

  • Own and evolve the technical architecture and design principles for Go-based IoT Platform (IoTP) services.
  • Define architectural patterns, service boundaries, integration approaches, and technical standards across the platform.
  • Design and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Apply cloud-native design principles for availability, horizontal scaling, resilience, resource efficiency, and operational maintainability.
  • Work with DevOps and SRE teams to improve observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and production reliability.
  • Establish and improve CI/CD practices using Jenkins and associated build, test, release, and deployment automation.

Security and Identity

  • Incorporate security principles into service architecture, API design, and cloud deployments.
  • Guide the implementation of PKI, TLS, certificate lifecycle management, authentication, authorization, and secure service-to-service communication.
  • Design and review integrations with enterprise identity and access management systems using standards such as OAuth 2.0,      OpenID Connect, and SAML.
  • Promote secure coding practices, appropriate secrets management, tenant isolation, and least-privilege access controls.

Technical Leadership and Production Support

  • Provide technical direction to engineers and technical leads without direct people-management responsibilities.
  • Mentor developers through design discussions, code reviews, architecture reviews, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with product management, frontend and backend engineering, DevOps, SRE, and security teams to translate product requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Support complex production troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, performance investigations, and resolution of systemic reliability issues.

  • Promote continuous improvement across architecture, engineering practices, documentation, and operational readiness.

 Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on experience building and operating production systems in Go/Golang.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and evolving the architecture of complex backend platforms or distributed systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Go concurrency, asynchronous processing, profiling, memory management, and performance optimization.
  • Deep understanding of microservices, API design, distributed-system failure modes, fault tolerance, and service      reliability.
  • Practical production experience with MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, and relational databases, including data modeling and      performance optimization.
  • Strong experience architecting and operating cloud-based applications on AWS or an equivalent major cloud platform.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, and Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated build, test, and deployment processes, preferably using Jenkins.
  • Strong understanding of application security, PKI, TLS, authentication, authorization, and enterprise identity integrations, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID and SAML.
  • Experience designing and integrating network-facing services and APIs, with the ability to assess protocol-specific reliability, security, and scalability requirements.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or evolving IoT connectivity, device management, telemetry, or connected-device platforms.
  • Practical experience with MQTT, CoAP, LwM2M, and LoRaWAN integrations.
  • Experience with multitenant SaaS platforms and large-scale device fleets.
