Company Overview
Hybron is an advanced manufacturing company that is building lightweight composites at mass production scale. At Hybron, we have pioneered a new composites manufacturing process that enables complex, high performance composite parts to be produced 10-100 times faster than traditional manufacturing, at a fraction of the cost.
We recently closed an oversubscribed $25M seed round, are backed by the Northrop Grumman Technology Accelerator, and are rapidly growing to commercialize and mass produce composite products at a scale never seen before. Our current focus is applying our proprietary process to composite artillery shells, solid rocket motor nozzles, gas turbine engine components, and airframes.
If you want to join a rapidly growing company working on cutting edge composites technology while building capabilities for the warfighter and reshoring U.S. manufacturing, then we want to speak with you.
About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person/hybrid role at our Hawthorne facility. As you will be working at an early-stage deep tech startup, this role will span many different tasks. Along with these high expectations comes the opportunity to significantly influence the development, strategy, and trajectory of a fast-growing startup company. Your work will tangibly impact our company and the composites industry, and you will be able to make rapid professional gains in an environment that encourages growth and innovation.

The Hybron team is growing quickly. We’ve scaled from 2 to over 20 in 18 months, and we’re continuing to grow across the entire business to support more business development, engineering, production, and operations. As Director of Talent, you will own Hybron’s recruiting pillar and build our headcount strategy as we grow. You’ll start by sourcing, screening, interviewing, and negotiating offers with candidates to help us build a world-class team. You’ll also support general operations, such as managing external recruiters, HR, and marketing. As Hybron rapidly scales, you’ll grow your own recruiting team and function to build a one-of-a-kind enterprise. This role requires a high-trust, self-starting generalist. You are a great fit if you can operate with autonomy in high-energy, fast-growing companies, are comfortable with ambiguity, and are willing to wear multiple hats. If you care about building the highest-quality team, we want you.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience (ideally for specific companies rather than at general recruiting firms)
  • 2+ years running recruiting end to end at a startup or high-growth company, ideally as the first or only recruiter
  • Experience hiring for both engineering and production/operations roles (technicians, machinists, assemblers, quality)
  • Experience with building a recruiting pipeline from scratch, utilizing several different channels (cold outreach, networking, referrals, inbound)
  • Experience closing candidates, including negotiating offers and equity conversations with candidates
  • Experience partnering with hiring managers on role scoping, comp, leveling, and prioritization, with the confidence to push back when needed
  • Experience with managing a compensation structure at a quickly growing startup, including designing comp bands, leveling frameworks, and equity guidelines
  • Working knowledge of employment compliance basics, such as California hiring law, pay transparency, EEO, and I-9, with awareness of when to loop in counsel

Nice to Have
  • Background hiring in hardware, aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing, especially the South Bay and LA talent market
  • Experience hiring in a 0-to-100+ headcount scale-up
  • Experience building employer brand, university and early-career programs, or apprenticeship and internship pipelines
  • Proficiency with HRIS/payroll platforms, with capability to run payroll, benefits, 401(k)/retirement plans, onboarding and offboarding
  • Experience with managing and sustaining a strong company culture, including events hosting

Growth Opportunity and Targets
As you grow with Hybron, your responsibilities are expected to shift and evolve:
  • Build the entire talent function from the ground up: the process, tooling, and team
  • Hire and lead a recruiting team (coordinators, sourcers, recruiters) as headcount grows, with real input on when and who
  • Become a strategic planner and partner with leadership – creating the People roadmap and compensation strategy, and contributing to organization design, workforce planning, company culture, brand and marketing strategy.

Compensation and Schedule
  • $140,000 - $200,000 per year
  • Significant stock options in the company
  • Potential additional compensation
  • Mondays – Fridays in-person

Benefits
  • Paid time off
  • Vacation – 10+ working days per year
  • Sick – 5 working days per year
  • Hybron observes a generous company-official holiday schedule
  • Daily lunches provided by the company
  • 401(k) with employer-matched contributions up to 4% of salary
  • Healthcare benefits
    • Medical insurance – 95% EE, 75% DEP employer contribution
    • Dental insurance – 95% EE, 75% DEP employer contribution
    • Vision insurance – 95% EE, 75% DEP employer contribution
    • Life, short and long-term disability insurance – 100% company covered

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
