Job Description

• Experience:  

NOTE: Looking for local or nearby Candidates

o Minimum 10 years work-related experience, 3-5 years Management experience 

o Working knowledge of Lean methodologies

o Has good knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), SAE, and other over-the-road vehicle standards and specifications.


• Communications:  

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills   

o Effective interaction with personnel at various levels within and outside the business

o Positive working attitude toward other employees; be a team player


• Engineering Focus:

o Develop and lead a team of engineers, designers, and technicians towards world class goals while converting specific customer requirements to robust engineering designs/packages

o Provides leadership and direction such that the engineering process is developed and executed similar to a production process, driving efficiencies in cycle time/lead time reduction and defect reduction

o Supports the Lean Organization while working closely with manufacturing, quality, and materials on product and process improvement initiatives

o Manages the total cost of the Bill of Materials

o Oversees the Development of all projects and initiatives including proposal/approval, budgeting, resourcing, milestone deliverables, reliability testing, prototype manufacturing and production launch

o Liaisons with Sales and Operations Management in the evaluation of new product offerings

o Drive product development through a strong understanding of the marketplace and competitive landscape

Qualifications

• Education/Misc.:  

o 4 year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree or Professional Engineering degrees desirable 

o Technical knowledge of mechanical design and material specifications.

o Ability to operate a PC with Solid Works or similar software

o Additional certifications and training in Lean, Six Sigma, or other advanced degree programs desirable

o Ability to travel to other plants (North Carolina) and industry events
