Job Description

ROLE

As our DevOps/System Administrator, you will be responsible for the management of our IT infrastructure and systems critical to the web operations of the business. Specifically, you will be taking care of the following: 

• Manage and deploy web infrastructure

• Develop and release Chef code

• Develop and implement test and build jobs for Chef code

• Implement tuning and optimizations for the stability and speed of web applications

• Streamline the process of managing systems and perform optimizations on the web stack

• Implement technologies and processes to increase reliability and scalability of the web stack

• Maintain and update infrastructure and application monitoring systems

• Maintain and update application deployment code

• Work closely with the Engineering and Quality Assurance teams to identify, diagnose, solve issues, and work towards infrastructure and applications improvements

• Deploy monthly security patches and updates to all environments (Prod, Staging, Dev)

• Report to Manager, Information Technology to create, implement, and enforce suitable business processes around the development and implementation of works related to operations and infrastructure

• 3 to 5 years of experience a similar position

• Must have core skills and technologies:

• Amazon Web Services

• Chef

• Coding abilities (Ruby, Shell)

• Build Server (e.g. Jenkins)

• LAMP stack

• Git

• Must have supporting skills and technologies:

• Deployment coding (Capistrano, CodeDeploy)

• Splunk

• Coding abilities (PHP, Python)

• Caching

• CDN

• Thor

• Critical thinker and problem solver with a resourcefulness and can-do attitude

• Passion for driving results, and proven results-orientation

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, prioritize, and handle a high-volume of tasks, deadlines, and requirements

• Great communications skills and proven ability to work effectively cross-functionally

• An entrepreneurial mindset and a roll-up-the-sleeves work ethic - must be comfortable with ambiguity and rapid rates of change

• Degree or specialized diploma in technology or a related discipline
