As a Data Systems Administrator you will;

  • Collaborate with customers to facilitate data migration from legacy NFS/Samba storage to modern systems.
  • Lead efforts to decommission outdated storage systems that have exceeded their useful lifespan.
  • Execute operating system upgrades on storage systems to ensure they run on current versions, particularly transitioning to Ubuntu 22.04.
  • Coordinate with Data Center operations to replace malfunctioning drives within storage systems.
  • Enhance monitoring dashboards and alerting systems to ensure optimal performance and quick issue resolution.
  • Develop scripts and tools to streamline self-service capabilities and bolster automation within storage infrastructure.
  • Enhance documentation and procedures pertaining to storage systems to improve overall efficiency and maintain consistency.
  • Contribute to process improvements by updating documentation, refining automation, and implementing monitoring and reporting enhancements.


Required Qualifications;

  • Ability to work fully onsite in Foster City, California.
  • Proficient in Linux OS administration, with a focus on storage and networking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to foster positive customer relationships over extended periods.
  • Experience in configuring and maintaining file systems, including NFS, Samba, and local file systems.
  • Familiarity with IPMI and ILOM for effective system management.
  • Understanding of Linux permissions, encompassing standard POSIX and NFSv4 protocols.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently over prolonged durations


Bonus Qualifications;

  • Experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux distributions.
  • Familiarity with VMware virtualization technology.
  • Knowledge of Cluster or Software Defined Storage (SDS) solutions such as Quobyte, Ceph, Lustre, or Gluster.
  • Proficiency with file storage appliances including TrueNAS, NetApp, DataDomain, Synology, and QNAP.
  • Expertise in ZFS file system administration.
  • Familiarity with automation software such as Saltstack, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Proficiency in scripting or programming languages like Python, BASH, Go, Rust, C, or C++.
  • Experience with project management methodologies to effectively oversee initiatives and ensure timely delivery.


Salary Range: $100,000-115,000 

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
