About Metal
Metal is an AI-powered operating system for founders raising venture rounds. Used by thousands of founders across the globe, our platform brings deep intelligence to core workflows involved in fundraising. In the long-term, our mission is to build the rails of the venture industry by bringing efficiency to venture rounds.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Data Analyst to help Metal scale with world-class data quality. This role is core to the product: when the data is great, founders move faster, trust the platform, and make better decisions and you’ll be one of the people making that true every day.
You’ll own a key data domain end-to-end. That means keeping it accurate, complete, and fresh – and building the checks, workflows, and systems that make quality repeatable (not heroic). You’ll investigate issues quickly, fix root causes, and continuously raise the bar as the product and dataset grow.
This role is designed to grow fast. In the beginning, you’ll be closest to the data: learning the platform, building operational muscle, and shipping high-signal improvements weekly. Over time, you’ll expand from “keeping data clean” to designing the systems behind quality — automations, QA frameworks, new data signals, and better ways to measure coverage and trust. As you ramp, you’ll increasingly partner with Product and Engineering to shape what we build next and how we scale it.
If you’re high-ownership, detail-obsessed, and excited to build real systems in an early-stage company, you’ll thrive here.
What You’ll Do
Own a core data domain end-to-end, ensuring accuracy, completeness, freshness, and coverage across the Metal platform.
Triage, investigate, and resolve data issues quickly — then fix root causes so they don’t happen again.
Identify gaps in data coverage and proactively drive initiatives to close them.
Review and validate data from third-party providers, flag regressions, and recommend improvements or new fields to ingest.
Design and run quality checks, audits, and lightweight QA frameworks to make data quality scalable and repeatable.
Propose and test new high-signal data points or metrics that increase product value and user trust.
Partner with Product and Engineering to improve data pipelines, tooling, and internal workflows over time.
Track and communicate progress through clear weekly and monthly updates on data quality, coverage, and improvements within your domain.
What We’re Looking For
Non-Negotiable Qualities
Extreme ownership: You take responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks. You notice issues before they’re assigned and feel accountable for fixing them end-to-end.
High bar for quality: You care deeply about correctness, consistency, and trust. Small errors bother you because you know they compound at scale.
Structured thinking: You naturally break messy problems into clear systems, workflows, and checklists — and improve them over time.
Strong problem-solving instincts: You look for root causes, not surface-level fixes, and you’re comfortable working through ambiguity to get there.
Bias toward action: You move quickly, make informed decisions with incomplete information, and iterate rather than wait for perfect clarity.
Clear communicator: You can explain issues, decisions, and trade-offs clearly — in writing and verbally — to both technical and non-technical teammates.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent demonstrated ability).
Strong analytical thinking and comfort working with structured information, ambiguity, and incomplete data.
High attention to detail — you care about correctness, consistency, and trust.
Evidence of execution: you’ve shipped projects, run workstreams, or delivered outcomes independently (internships, research, side projects, student org leadership all count).
Comfortable working in spreadsheets and/or basic data tools; able to learn new systems quickly.
Prior exposure to data, research, operations, analytics, or fast-moving teams is a plus — but not required.
Why Join Metal?
You’ll play a foundational role in building the data backbone of Metal’s platform. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role where your work directly affects product quality, user trust, and company direction. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to data operations, product thinking, and venture intelligence and have the opportunity to grow into more advanced roles as the function scales.
