Responsibilities
Our team is looking for an experienced and energetic person who will function as a Data Architect, responsible for all project data design activities from the Appraise to Execute phases. The role requires an in-depth understanding of data management processes as well as extensive experience in data and document ingestion, and the development of Business Intelligence solutions. This role will also be responsible for assisting in the high level design of the Information Management applications and will use their expertise, methodologies and standards to help shape future processes, system requirements and data needs. This role has high visibility to, and engagement with, all technical levels of IT within the organization.

A strong leader and influencer, the candidate must have both relevant and extensive experience in data architecture coupled with strategic forward thinking and motivated by working within a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Manage Business and Data Management Project:
• Accountable for the data architecture and design of the Data Management Program (DMP)
• Working with the IM Director, IM Program Manager and the Lead Architect to produce detailed architecture artifacts in support of the organization’s Architecture Common Process Develop a strong working relationship with the existing project resources to understand the data drivers and priorities
• Identify and design data repositories to support Business Intelligence, Analytic and Decision Support solutions that support the group’s business requirements
• Work with the group’s IT Information and Data Management Director and our Strategy and Architecture to ensure alignment with the BU objectives and IT strategy including data preservation
• Produce detailed design specifications in support of the organization’s Architecture Common Process.
• Develop a broad understanding of capabilities (current and future) within the group’s IT suite of applications and understand their integration.
• Assist the wider program team in risk / issue resolution
• Participate in business requirements, prototyping and product demonstration workshop sessions.
• Create documentation to identify the scope of the business requirements and develop high level logical data mapping.

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

• 10+ years’ experience working with information management technologies and techniques
• In depth understanding of both relational and dimensional data models
• In depth understanding of content management techniques
• In depth understanding of Enterprise Search technologies

• Experience creating complete and detailed designs and development specifications
• Track record of delivery of projects for large organization
• Track record of full life cycle delivery project delivery
• Knowledge of package and bespoke development methodologies
• Experience creating and executing test plans and test scripts
• Ability to identify opportunities and generate options for decreasing delivery time and supporting long term supportability.
• Experience working with technical teams, business analysts and process subject matter experts across various IT disciplines and geographies
• Experience with BI reporting tools
• Experience with BI (Dimensional) Data Modelling
• Understanding of ETL Tools and Design

• Preferred

• TOGAF
• Understanding of Environmental Sciences
• Experience delivering in an agile environment
• Experience in a multi-vendor environment
• Experience with onshore/offshore blended development
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or computer science
