Summary

This is a part-time role: 15- 20 hours per week; work location: hybrid

The Data and Outcomes Specialist helps Hope Haven collect, understand, and use information about client outcomes, program performance, and organizational impact. This position coordinates data collection across departments, strengthens data quality and reporting practices, analyzes qualitative and quantitative information, and translates findings into useful insights for staff, leadership, the Board of Directors, and funders.

This role requires more than technical proficiency. Recovery is personal, nonlinear, and influenced by factors such as trauma, mental and physical health, housing instability, family relationships, employment, and access to resources. The successful candidate will understand both the value and the limitations of data in measuring changes in human behavior. They will work collaboratively with clinical, program, administrative, and development staff to identify measures that are meaningful, ethical, realistic, and useful.

The ideal candidate combines practical data skills with significant experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, homelessness services, housing, public health, social work, or another human services field.

Essential Functions

Data Collection and Quality

  • Coordinate data collection across departments to support timely, complete, and accurate organizational reporting.

  • Help staff understand data definitions, outcome measures, methods of calculation, documentation requirements, and reporting expectations.

  • Review data for missing, inconsistent, or incomplete information and work with departments to resolve concerns.

  • Develop and maintain practical procedures that improve data integrity and consistency.

  • Serve as an internal resource on outcome tracking, performance measurement, and responsible interpretation of human services data.

Outcomes, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Collaborate with program and clinical leaders to identify meaningful indicators of client progress, program quality, and organizational impact.

  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative information to identify trends, questions, opportunities, and limitations.

  • Interpret findings within the context of recovery and human services, recognizing that individual progress may not follow a uniform or linear path.

  • Help distinguish between activities, outputs, short-term outcomes, and longer-term impact.

  • Support a culture in which data is used for learning and program improvement, not simply for compliance.

Reporting and Communication

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and performance reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports related to program outcomes, organizational performance, and strategic priorities.

  • Translate complex findings into clear, accurate, and useful information for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Support data-informed planning and decision-making across the organization.

Grant and Contract Support

  • Partner with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to provide accurate data, outcome measures, and impact information for grant applications and funder reports.

  • Collaborate with program, clinical, finance, and administrative staff to support contract reporting and compliance requirements.

  • Assist with data and reporting readiness for HUD-funded opportunities and participation in HMIS.

Organizational Reporting and Profiles

  • Coordinate the annual renewal of charitable solicitation registrations.

  • Maintain accurate organizational profiles on third-party information and rating platforms, including Charity Navigator, Candid, and BBB.

  •  Perform other related duties that support organizational reporting, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Physical Demands

  • May sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

  • Frequently uses a computer and standard office equipment.

  • Occasionally lifts or moves materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a professional work environment with regular interaction with employees, clients, and other stakeholders.
