About Parcell
Parcell is an AI-powered site selection and scoring platform for affordable housing developers working with the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
Our platform brings together millions of parcels and a wide range of public, commercial, and proprietary datasets to help developers identify promising sites and understand how projects are likely to score. We work with leading affordable housing developers, including Pivotal Housing, Columbia Residential, and Dominium, all among the top 50 nationwide.
We’re a small, profitable startup founded by Sang Venkatraman and Carlos Lawton and headquartered in Atlanta, GA.

About the Role
The easy data is already automated. You’ll tackle the harder problems: uncovering data behind municipal portals, reconstructing useful metrics, and building datasets that don’t exist off the shelf.
You’ll take that work from investigation through production, alongside operations and the people bringing new states onto Parcell. Your work will help affordable housing developers decide where to build.
This is a full-time role based in Atlanta, GA. You’ll work remotely, with occasional in-person collaboration.

What You Will Do
Investigate and explore
  • Work with your teammates across operations and state implementation to understand the problem behind a data need.
  • Track down difficult sources, uncover how a useful metric is produced, or piece together data that doesn’t exist off the shelf.
  • Build prototypes to test ideas and choose a practical approach you’ll carry through to production.
Build and ship
  • Turn promising approaches into production software, directing AI agents and building on existing platform capabilities.
  • Design PostgreSQL and PostGIS data models around how the information will support search, scoring, and customer decisions.
  • Build repeatable ways to acquire, transform, and refresh data as sources change.
Make the results trustworthy
  • Determine how to validate the results, including when there is no single source to check them against.
  • Preserve the sources, assumptions, and reasoning behind the solution so others can understand and build on it.
  • Work with operations to make solutions reliable to run and make source changes or data problems visible.
Who You Are
  • You love a good data puzzle. An unfamiliar portal or an elusive dataset makes you want to dig in and figure it out.
  • You follow clues, test ideas, and find a practical way forward, even when nobody can hand you the answer.
  • You enjoy turning discoveries into working software and have owned production systems from idea through release.
  • You’re strong in PostgreSQL and think carefully about how data should fit into the platform.
  • You can read and review TypeScript or Python, catch issues, and verify that code matches the intended design.
  • You work with AI agents as part of your development team, directing their work and owning the technical decisions.
  • You understand spatial data or are eager to learn PostGIS, with the technical foundation to do so.
Bonus Points
  • Web scraping, difficult public-data acquisition, or inspecting undocumented APIs and network traffic.
  • PostGIS and government, municipal, or open-data sources.
  • Startup or small-team experience with broad ownership of production systems.
  • Experience validating messy data where accuracy, completeness, and methodology cannot be assumed.
A specific degree, LIHTC or housing experience, and traditional data-warehouse tooling are not required.

Why You’ll Love Working at Parcell
  • High ownership of problems from initial investigation through production.
  • Work that directly influences where affordable housing gets built.
  • A small, pragmatic team where you can shape how problems are solved.
  • Join as an early engineer and help shape the product and how we build it.
  • Work directly with the founders at a small, profitable startup.

Skills Required

  • Strong PostgreSQL skills
  • Ability to read and review TypeScript
  • Understanding of spatial data or ability to learn PostGIS
  • Experience turning prototypes or discoveries into production software
  • Experience owning production systems from idea through release
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar portals and difficult datasets
  • Ability to design data models for platform use
  • Ability to validate messy data for accuracy, completeness, and methodology
  • Web scraping or difficult public-data acquisition experience
  • Experience inspecting undocumented APIs and network traffic
  • PostGIS experience
  • Government, municipal, or open-data experience
  • Startup or small-team experience with broad production ownership
