Job Description
Role Overview:
The Trader Platform team builds the core automation and tooling that helps APAC trading desks trade, manage risk and operate at scale across the full trade lifecycle. We deliver solutions spanning reference data, risk tooling, trading applications and process automation for desks across the region and across multiple asset classes. We sit where technology meets the trading floor, working directly with traders and global engineering teams to deliver reliable, production-grade solutions.
We are looking for a Software Engineer (a range of experience levels considered) with strong technical fundamentals, curiosity about the business and the ability to work in a fast-paced trading environment. You will work across desks and asset classes, building and maintaining the systems traders rely on every day. The role includes production support rotation during APAC market hours.
Location:
Hong Kong or Sydney
Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain trading applications, risk management tools and process automation for APAC trading desks
  • Develop and improve data platforms that support the trading business
  • Collaborate with global engineering teams to enhance the firm's trading platforms
  • Create dashboards and UIs that support traders across the trade lifecycle
  • Streamline operational workflows through automation and engineering best practices
  • Work directly with traders to understand their needs, turn them into technical solutions and iterate quickly
  • Take part in the team's production support rotation, triaging and resolving issues during APAC market hours

Qualifications:
  • Strong Python skills; experience with C++ is valued
  • Comfortable with data-intensive systems: ETL pipelines, time-series data, reference data normalization
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms and software design
  • Able to understand and navigate a complex trading environment with many connected systems
  • Business mindset: curious about how trading works, willing to sit with traders and able to turn business problems into technical solutions
  • Ownership mentality: you see work through from design to production, including operational support
  • Clear communication: you can explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders

Preferred:
  • Experience in a front office technology role at a trading firm, bank or fintech
  • Familiarity with financial concepts: positions, PnL, risk, order lifecycle, market data
  • Experience with kdb+/q or similar time-series or analytical data stores
  • Exposure to real-time or event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, CEPs)
  • Experience with workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, job scheduling frameworks)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, modern build tooling and production deployment in a regulated environment

Why This Role Is Unique:
  • Breadth of impact: you'll work across APAC desks and asset classes rather than being siloed into one product
  • Trader proximity: working directly with the trading floor means you get immediate feedback on what you build
  • Growth trajectory: engineers can grow into owning larger, cross-functional projects and leading strategic initiatives
  • Global reach: you'll contribute to the firm's global platforms and influence how they evolve worldwide
  • Structured ramp: a structured onboarding program that builds toward end-to-end feature ownership
