The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing Paragon Pro Rentals LLC’s (“Paragon”) credit and collections functions, including customer credit evaluation, credit limits and payment terms, accounts receivable management, collections, and lien and bond rights. The Credit Manager partners with Sales, Operations, Finance and Legal to support profitable growth while managing credit risk, improving cash collections, and protecting Paragon’s receivables and rental assets.
Essential Functions
- Manage customer credit applications, approvals, credit limits and payment terms.
- Evaluate customer creditworthiness using credit reports, financial information, trade references, payment history and other relevant information.
- Monitor customer accounts and adjust credit limits or terms based on payment performance, account activity and credit risk.
- Establish appropriate credit requirements, including guaranties, deposits, advance payments or other credit enhancements.
- Oversee accounts receivable and collection activities, including delinquent and high-risk accounts.
- Monitor aging, DSO, past-due balances, bad debt, and other credit and collection KPIs.
- Place accounts on credit hold and coordinate with Sales and Operations regarding delinquent customers, open rentals and equipment returns.
- Negotiate payment arrangements and escalate accounts for third-party collections, litigation, repossession or write-off, when appropriate.
- Oversee processes for preserving mechanic’s lien, preliminary notice, bond claim, and other statutory payment rights.
- Coordinate with Legal regarding liens, bankruptcies, guaranties, litigation and significant collection matters.
- Develop and administer Paragon’s credit and collection policies, procedures and internal controls.
- Identify and address potential credit fraud and other customer account risks.
- Lead, train and develop Credit and Collections personnel.
- Provide management with reporting regarding receivables, collection performance and significant credit exposure.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Five or more years of commercial credit and collections experience, including credit analysis, accounts receivable management and collections; supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Equipment rental, construction, heavy equipment or related industry experience, including familiarity with lien and bond rights, guaranties and commercial collection remedies, preferred.
- Strong financial analysis, negotiation, communication, leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance credit risk, customer relationships and business objectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting, ERP, credit management, or rental management systems.
