Reputable Oil & Gas Consulting company specializing in asset performance management and engineering analysis is seeking an experienced Corrosion Engineer to join the growing team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and/or supporting corrosion-related projects as well as providing technical expertise and consultancy on corrosion and materials-related matters while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.  Additional responsibilities will be to provide technical assessment and interpretation of corrosion/inspection monitoring data and recommend changes in corrosion criticality analyses and monitoring/inspection programs where appropriate.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support in the areas of metallurgy, corrosion, coatings, welding, and pressure vessel design.
  • Contribute expert advice on the selection and fabrication of materials, corrosion control, and maintaining the mechanical integrity of pressure retaining systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership in managing Risk Based Inspection (RBI) analysis of pressure-containing equipment as well as working with inspectors to develop, implement, and analyze pressure equipment inspection plans.
  • Ensure project objectives are met with respect to safety, environmental, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule.

Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Corrosion, Materials Science, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience managing corrosion and materials.
  • In-depth knowledge of corrosion and damage mechanisms associated with the refining industry.
  • Ability to apply failure investigation methodology and problem-solving principles.
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler Sections I, V, VIII and IX and B31.3.
  • Familiarity with API Inspection Codes 510, 570, 571, 580 and 653.
  • Knowledgeable and conversant in damage mechanisms that affect refinery equipment including fundamentals of corrosion, basic forms of corrosion, and methods of corrosion control.
  • Knowledgeable in performing remaining life and fitness for service evaluations.
  • Knowledgeable in risk-based inspection methodologies and how to utilize the methodologies. Knowledgeable in failure investigation methodologies and problem-solving principles.
  • Proficient with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, PCMS, and API RBI software.

Additional Skills/Requirements:

  • The ability to work effectively unsupervised while maintaining good work prioritization and time management across multiple tasks.
  • Solid understanding of coating breakdown, corrosion, fatigue, and other integrity-related degradation mechanisms.
  • Understanding of inspection and NDE methods.
  • Ability to travel to field locations or client sites as needed.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Corrosion, Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • 5 or more years of experience managing corrosion and materials

  • Ability to apply failure investigation methodology and problem-solving principles
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler Sections I, V, VIII, and IX and ASME B31.3
  • Familiarity with API Inspection Codes 510, 570, 571, 580, and 653
  • Knowledge of refinery equipment damage mechanisms, corrosion fundamentals, corrosion types, and corrosion-control methods
  • Knowledge of remaining-life and fitness-for-service evaluations
  • Knowledge of risk-based inspection methodologies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, PCMS, and API RBI software
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and manage multiple tasks
  • Understanding of coating breakdown, corrosion, fatigue, and integrity-related degradation mechanisms
  • Understanding of inspection and non-destructive examination methods
  • Ability to travel to field locations or client sites as needed
  • US citizenship or Green Card holder status
