The Role

As a Platform Engineer on the core systems team, you will design, deploy, automate, and monitor the core services that power Laocoön’s software platform with resiliency and high availability. If you’re looking to solve the world’s most complex, computationally intensive data ingestion, orchestration, API, and infrastructure problems, we would love to meet you.

You will work across the stack, partnering with AI, science, and clinical teams to bring advanced systems into production. We're looking for an experienced builder to solve problems for some of the most complicated healthcare workflows and computing services on the planet; if you possess that rare mix of depth in software operations, networking, and systems engineering, then we are waiting for your application.

What You’ll Do

• Design, deploy, monitor, and automate infrastructure, tools and systems and backend services and APIs that operate reliably with high availability in regulated environments;
• Build event-driven systems that connect clinical data, reasoning engines, and submission workflows;
• Own infrastructure fundamentals: deployment, observability, security, logging, monitoring, and scalability;
• Collaborate closely with scientists and product leaders to translate frontier concepts into robust applied systems.
• Build the inner sanctum. Make it secure, invisible, inevitable.

You Are

• A cloud systems architect at heart who thinks in terms of distributed systems, blast radius, fault domains, and operational resilience;
• Obsessed with reliability engineering and uptime in high-visibility, high-volume production environments;
• Deeply fluent in AWS primitives and opinionated about how cloud systems should be built;
• Comfortable designing infrastructure that supports AI inference workloads and event-driven pipelines at scale;
• Skilled at diagnosing performance bottlenecks across compute, networking, and storage layers;
• Able to operate in ambiguity and build first-principles cloud architectures rather than patching legacy systems;
• An optimizer by nature — you design systems that improve in cost, latency, and reliability over time;
• Calm and decisive during incidents, methodical in post-mortems, and relentless about improving system resilience.
• Positive, open- and solution-minded; biased toward action, inclusivity and radical curiosity.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years building and operating cloud-native distributed systems;
• Deep AWS expertise across compute, networking, IAM, and data services.
• Strong experience designing distributed, event-driven systems in production environments;
• Experience building and operating highly available systems with strict uptime and compliance requirements;
• Advanced degree preferred (Master’s preferred, Bachelor’s required)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI/LLM infrastructure.
• Event-driven systems (Kafka, pub/sub).
• HIPAA or regulated environments.
• Multi-tenant architecture at scale.
• Deep familiarity with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Lambda, Pub/Sub, etc.)
• Meaningful experience with LLM architectures, tooling, and workflows; deep cloud platform experience
