The Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for maximizing return on financial assets by establishing and maintaining financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems. This position oversees one employee, the Accounting Specialist, and is located at our Front Street branch in Marquette, MI. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for accurate and timely changes in the general ledger
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Assists with the preparation and/or review of various regulatory reports
  • Assists with the creation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
  • Creates risk reports for internal meetings
  • Backs up the Chief Financial Officer and Accounting Specialist
  • Facilitate and manage annual external Audit
  • Enter journal entries for the holding company and prepare monthly holding company financial statements
  • Manage correspondent bank cash balances
  • Maintain bond investment portfolio and prepare monthly and daily entries


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional analytical, numerical and organization skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years banking experience
  • CPA license or CMA certification
