Luma's mission is to build multimodal AI to expand human imagination and capabilities. We believe that multimodality is critical for intelligence. To go beyond language models and build more aware, capable and useful systems, the next step function change will come from vision. So we are working on training and scaling up multimodal foundation models for systems that can see and understand, show and explain, and eventually interact with our world to effect change.
This is a rare opportunity for a foundational builder to shape the operational backbone of a rapidly scaling AI company. As our Contracts Specialist, you will be the architect and owner of our entire contracting process, leveraging Ironclad to empower Luma to move with speed and precision. You will transform our legal operations into a strategic advantage, designing and optimizing systems from scratch that directly accelerate our mission to expand human imagination and capabilities through frontier AI.
Location: Redwood City, CA / Hybrid (M,W,F)
- This is a 0-to-1 opportunity to build and optimize, not just maintain.
- Optimize the CLM ecosystem, AI initiatives, system integrations, and internal training to ensure Luma's operational vision translates into seamless data flow and user adoption.
- Maintain the architecture of the contracting framework—including standardized intake workflows, self-service playbooks, and automated approvals—to mitigate risk across all agreement types and accelerate cycle times for Sales and internal stakeholders.
- Perform core contract administration duties, including extracting contract attributes, auditing the database, and organizing signed documentation and legal correspondence to ensure the "Source of Truth" remains accurate through regular audits of the contract database and template repository.
- Own standard and ad-hoc reporting and metrics related to contract volume, turnaround times, and other key performance indicators to identify bottlenecks and propose data-driven process improvements.
- Facilitate communication between Legal and internal business units regarding contract status and requirements to ensure administrative processes align with broader legal strategies and business objectives.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years in contract administration or legal operations.
- Firm grasp of contract lifecycles and the "anatomy" of commercial agreements.
- Hands-on experience with Ironclad Contract Lifecycle Management software, specifically in configuring workflows, managing permissions, and pulling reports (not just as an end-user).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Self-motivated, resourceful, able to meet aggressive deadlines, flexible, and demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new concepts/software/industries quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Possess a genuine curiosity for AI and emerging technologies, with an eagerness to learn how to leverage AI to automate manual tasks while maintaining a high bar for ethical data handling and accuracy.
- Demonstrated metrics-driven impact, such as quantifiable reductions in contract turnaround time or increases in self-service contract volume.
- Prior experience implementing AI tools for contract extraction, data auditing, or other legal tech automation.
- A proven track record of acting as the connective tissue between Legal, Sales, and other business units, driving cross-functional alignment and process adoption.
The base pay range for this role is $98,500 – $123,000 per year.
