About the Team
Freeths' nationally recognised Data & information team is one of the leading specialist practices in the UK, advising clients on complex data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, AI and technology matters. The team works with organisations ranging from innovative start-ups and scale-ups through to major UK and international businesses across sectors including retail, technology, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and professional services.
This opportunity sits within our growing Data & information team, working alongside Luke Dixon, Head of Data & Information. Luke is recognised as a leading individual for data protection and privacy law and advises clients on a broad range of technology, cyber, AI and data-related issues. The team is known for delivering practical, commercially focused advice on business-critical matters, helping clients navigate an increasingly complex regulatory and technological landscape.
As part of Freeths' wider national Commercial practice you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the firm on high-profile and strategically important projects, providing excellent opportunities for career progression, business development and client relationship management.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded and rapidly growing team advising clients on a wide variety of technology, data protection and digital matters.
Working closely with Luke and other members of the national Data & information practice, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering advice on:
- Data protection and UK GDPR compliance programmes
- Data processing, data sharing and international data transfer arrangements
- Cybersecurity, data breaches and incident response matters
- AI governance, emerging technologies and regulatory compliance
- Digital marketing, e-Privacy and PECR compliance
- Technology, outsourcing and managed service agreements
- Software licensing, SaaS, cloud and technology procurement projects
- Strategic corporate and technology transactions
The team is looking for an enthusiastic lawyer with approximately 2-4 years' PQE gained within a strong commercial, technology, data protection or privacy practice. However, applications from candidates outside this PQE range will also be considered where they can demonstrate the relevant skills and experience.

Skills Required
- Approximately 2–4 years’ post-qualification experience in a commercial, technology, data protection, or privacy practice
- Relevant skills and experience in advising on data protection, privacy, technology, cybersecurity, AI, or commercial matters
- Ability to provide commercially focused legal advice and collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
