Sydra Health builds AI-driven software that automates No Surprises Act independent dispute resolution (IDR) for physician practices and healthcare organizations. Our platform takes an out-of-network claim from eligibility through offer submission and award, turning a slow, manual process into a fast and repeatable one. We are physician-founded, founder-funded and generating revenue, with a small team and growing demand.
The role
We are looking for a hands-on CTO to own our technology: architecture, engineering, security and delivery. You will lead a small development team, write and review code, and work directly with the founder and our revenue cycle experts to turn real billing workflow problems into shipped product. This is a builder's role. We need someone who finds the problem before being asked and arrives with the solution.
What you'll do
- Own the product architecture and technical roadmap, and deliver against it on schedule
- Lead, mentor and grow the engineering team; set standards for code quality, testing and releases
- Build and scale AI/LLM-driven document and workflow automation for claims, eligibility and IDR submissions
- Lead integrations with clearinghouses, payers and practice management/EHR systems (EDI 837/835, APIs)
- Own security and compliance: HIPAA, access controls, audit logging, vendor agreements, SOC 2 readiness
- Work with RCM and IDR specialists to understand workflows firsthand and remove manual steps
- Support customer demonstrations and technical due diligence with clear, concise answers
- Manage cloud infrastructure, reliability, cost and vendor relationships
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ leading a team and owning a production system
- A record of shipping B2B SaaS products, ideally at an early-stage company
- Hands-on strength in modern web and cloud stacks [your stack here]
- Practical experience building with LLMs and document automation in production
- Healthcare data experience: HIPAA, claims/EDI or clearinghouse integrations, revenue cycle workflows
- A habit of taking initiative, communicating plainly and meeting commitments
- Ability to be on-site in [location] [2–3] days per week
Nice to have
- Experience with NSA/IDR, out-of-network billing or prior authorization workflows
- SOC 2 or HITRUST audit experience
- Prior startup CTO or VP Engineering role
