Job Description

Case Manager, Permanent, Cardiff

When a person becomes injured, whether that be at work or whilst driving, often their first thoughts are how they will pay their bills, provide for their family or be back to feeling themselves. As a Case Manager at NewLaw, you play a pivotal role in getting these people the compensation and support they need and deserve. Your ability to balance empathy with professional integrity, combined with your ability to negotiate and build rapport with people will make you an asset to the Case Management Team.

What does a Case Manager do?

Predominantly, a case manager at NewLaw will spend their time focusing on 3 areas:

Customer Service: Your clients look to you for support. They’re often dealing with their own injuries, loss of earnings and increased pressure on their household to get by whilst on the mend. You’ll spend your time reassuring clients that their claim is important and that you are doing all you can to get them the best result possible, all whilst managing their expectations on timescales and potential outcomes.

Negotiation: Whether you're negotiating with your clients to understand the value of their claim, or with opposing insurance companies, you will spend your time doing your best to get the best outcome for your clients.

Administration: Everything you do will need to be documented on our Case Management System, whether it’s an email/text to a client, a voicemail left or an offer to settle a claim, everything you do will need to be monitored. Don’t panic – Much of this is automated through the system.

Of course, there are other considerations when doing this job – attending training, making sure high value claims are passed on to the relevant teams correctly, understanding our compliance obligations, to name a few. But the above covers the day to day of what you would expect.

What makes a great Case Manager?

Ideally, you'll have a law degree and want to build your career within a firm that only offers its training contracts to people that already work within the business. Perhaps you’ve taken an alternative route into Law and have 12 months experience in a Case Management role in the Legal, Insurance or Finance sectors without a specific qualification. Maybe you have both? Regardless, your ability to build rapport with clients using both written and verbal communication methods, combined with your ability to manage tight deadlines and knowledge of Microsoft Office will all help you be the best Case Manager you can be.

In return for your commitment and expertise, we offer:

  • A salary between £18,500 and £21,750, dependant on experience.
  • An uncapped bonus scheme, boosting your salary by an average of £2000 per annum.
  • Career development opportunities.
  • 31 days holiday, increasing to a maximum of 35 (This includes 8 bank/public holidays)
  • Local shop discounts, including a 20% discount with EE.
  • Cycle to work scheme and travel loans.
  • A “Recommend a Friend” bonus scheme, up to £1250 per referral.
  • City Centre location right by Queens Street Station, 10 min walk from Cardiff Central.
  • And of course, Pension.
