Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Client Accounting Services (CAS) team in Dayton, Ohio. This role provides outsourced accounting and advisory support to a diverse client base, serving as a trusted resource for financial management, reporting, payroll, and operational accounting needs.
The CAS Senior Accountant is responsible for managing client engagements, overseeing full-cycle accounting processes, preparing and reviewing financial information, mentoring team members, and delivering exceptional client service. This position requires strong technical accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage multiple client relationships and priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting engagements for multiple clients, including general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and review financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and firm procedures.
- Manage the preparation, review, and filing of payroll tax filings and Form 1099 reporting.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing responsive communication and proactive solutions to support business needs.
- Review work prepared by junior team members and provide coaching, training, and technical guidance.
- Assist with onboarding new clients, special projects, process improvements, and workflow optimization initiatives.
- Maintain expertise in accounting technology platforms and serve as a resource for internal team members.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve accounting issues and improve client processes.
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and firm expectations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality client service and support firm growth initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold Brady Ware's standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
- Achieve established utilization and performance goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or Client Accounting Services experience, preferably within public accounting or a professional services environment.
- Experience managing full-cycle accounting processes, including financial statement preparation, month-end close, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Working proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Professional presence and confidence when working directly with clients.
- Ability to work onsite in Brady Ware's Dayton office and at client locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Public accounting experience within a Client Accounting Services (CAS), outsourced accounting, or bookkeeping environment.
- ProAdvisor Certification in QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop.
- Experience with multiple accounting platforms such as Sage Intacct, Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems.
- Experience preparing payroll tax filings and informational returns, including Forms 1099.
- Knowledge of sales tax, CAT tax, and other business compliance reporting requirements.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior accounting staff.
- Strong project management and process improvement skills.
