Capital Markets Associate

Fence is a tech-native facility agent replacing traditional trust and agency providers - think spreadsheets, PDFs, emails, and manual bank transfers - with APIs, smart contracts, and software.

We're building internet-native Debt Capital Markets - where capital flows instantly, globally, and programmatically. Today's debt markets run on PDFs, spreadsheets, and T+7 settlement. We're replacing that with APIs, smart contracts, and real-time execution. The infrastructure we're building today is the foundation for a future where the best opportunities get funded instantly, regardless of geography or asset class. It's a $100T+ industry where operational friction adds up to 40% to the total cost of capital - and we're eliminating it.

Today, we automate asset-backed debt facility operations. We ingest data, encode facility rules from legal documentation, run continuous verification, and execute cash movements programmatically with full auditability. We have +$1B in Assets Under Administration, working with institutions like BBVA, Fortress, and BlackRock.

We recently raised over $20M from investors including Galaxy Digital, ParaFi Capital, and Crane.

We're looking for a Capital Markets Associate to structure new debt facilities and bring them live on our platform. You'll join a senior team with years of experience across structured finance, fintech, and capital markets, people with high standards and serious ambition.

You'll own a facility end to end. You are Fence's face in front of the client and the one managing both sides of the transaction directly: the companies originating the assets (fintechs and asset originators like Payflow) and the institutions funding them (banks, credit funds and asset managers like BBVA, Fortress and BlackRock), along with the law firms behind the documentation. You'll lead the structuring work with them, translate what the legal agreement requires into how the product has to work, and drive it through the build with our engineers until it's live. This is a high-ownership role where you decide what gets built and why, not just execute what's already been defined.

• Outsized ambition: We're rebuilding Debt Capital Markets from scratch. This is one of the very few opportunities to build a $100B+ company.

• Solve hard problems: Every facility is a new puzzle. New asset classes, new structures, new markets, none of which fit a template. Your job is to break them down into clear product decisions our platform can absorb, so that what was bespoke once becomes standard forever.

• Work with a strong team: Finance experts from McKinsey and Morgan Stanley, and senior engineers from fintech and blockchain. People who move fast, hold high standards, and care about getting it right.

• Innovate: Work at the intersection of finance and blockchain, with smart contracts, stablecoins and real-time programmable money. It is where the next decade of financial infrastructure gets built.

• Own your work: A team of 21 where you are an owner from day one. You run facilities worth hundreds of millions in front of institutional counterparts, and the decisions are yours to make.

• Grow with us: We're a global team with offices in Madrid, Barcelona and New York, and London next. Continuous learning is part of the job, and so is the chance to move between our offices as we expand.

• Shape deals with C-level stakeholders. Work directly with senior counterparts at borrowers, lenders and their law firms to structure, organize and define each facility before it goes live

• Make contracts run themselves. Take an agreement that institutions have operated by hand for decades and define how it should work as software, so the entire facility runs automatically once it's live

• Own scope and program management. Plan the entire process end to end, define the workstreams, sequence them, and decide what matters now and what can wait. You keep several facilities moving at once and hit the dates.

• Be the face of Fence. The single point of contact for everyone in the transaction, from kickoff to the day the facility is running, and the one they trust to get it right.

• Shape the product. You'll see what institutions need before anyone else does, turn that into sharp product recommendations

• 1 to 3 years of experience in demanding environments such as investment banking, consulting, or high-growth startups. What matters is that you've been held to a high bar.

• Strong project management. You can hold several workstreams at once, decide what matters now and what can wait, and keep everyone moving without needing to be chased. When you commit to a date, you hit it.

• AI-native. You already use AI tools to work faster and better, and you pick up new ones without being told to.

• Bridge between business and engineering. You can hold your own in a technical conversation, write a requirement clear enough to build from, and push back when what's being built doesn't match what was agreed

• Advanced Microsoft Office Level. You can structure, model and present a problem clearly, without help.

• Excellent written and spoken English. You'll spend your days in front of institutional counterparts, and how you write is how we're perceived.
