Position Summary 


Operations at Brown Advisory provides applicants with a client first, fast paced, entrepreneurial environment where they will have the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills with the support of dedicated teammates.  Our team takes great care to ensure that the needs of our clients are met and their expectations exceeded. The Operations team is seeking a dynamic new colleague to support the reporting needs of our most complex clients through launching and maintaining the Addepar portfolio accounting system. This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to join a new and growing team, leverage their experience, and add value to our firm in an outsized way. 


Essential Functions/Responsibilities: 

  • Generates monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc reports for our private client and institutional relationships
  • Produces custom business-segment and/or firm analytics for managerial reporting on a regular or ad-hoc basis
  • Analyzes and interprets relevant investment data, including portfolio positions, transactions, and performance
  • Develops, communicates, and/or expounds reports and analysis for internal and external stakeholders
  • Troubleshoots any reporting or operational process errors, then propose and implement solutions
  • Manages projects to create or improves reporting content and/or advance strategic business goals
  • Provides support, innovation, and project consultation for multiple business segments
  • Ability to draw own conclusions, articulate positions, communicate key messages, make recommendations, and influence in a team
  • Develops industry insights through proactive networking, conference attendance, and independent research
  • Performs other duties of a similar or related level and assists with special projects as necessary or assigned.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of analyst or operations experience
  • 2+ years of direct experience with FactSet (PA3, SPAR, IRN, etc.,)
  • Experience producing attribution and risk reporting in support of US and International equity and fixed income products
  • Strong Excel knowledge working with large data sets
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Excellent client service focus and high touch experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively problem solve employing independent judgment in decision-making
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and work effectively and efficiently in a very fast paced, dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt quickly to changes and complete last-minute requests as needed
  • Demonstrated aptitude for numbers and quantitative proficiency
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive client information with discretion
  • Ability to work in office five days weekly

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience within the financial services industry
  • Experience with Tableau
  • Experience with Snowflake and/or SQL
  • Knowledge of Advent Software or other portfolio management systems
  • Experience with Client or Firm Reporting

MD Salary: $78-$90k. Commensurate with experience and location. Does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree; finance, accounting, or economics concentration preferred. Equivalent work experience may substitute.
  • Experience using Addepar and Canoe.
  • Experience with Advent/APX, eFront, or a similar accounting product.
  • Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, specifically macros and VLOOKUP functionality.
  • Proficiency in private equity and hedge fund securities, real assets, and general market mechanics.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
  • Client-first mentality and demonstrated flexibility.
  • Strong time-management, problem-resolution, and research skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and escalate issues promptly.
  • Experience in client or firm reporting.
  • Ability to work in an office location five days per week.
