Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager – Advanced Resins is responsible for strategically driving growth and profitability of the assigned product category by collaborating closely with the Product Manager, Commercial and Technical Teams, Operations, Procurement, and Suppliers. The Business Development Manager will be the technical expert on Advanced Resins including pDCPD, Epoxy, Curatives, Urethanes, etc. and provide required training to the Commercial and Technical Teams that enables them to be effective at maintaining current business and converting new business. The Business Development Manager focuses efforts across C1 functional groups to deliver both short-term and long-term results for the organization and drive customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities: 

Business Development & Growth Strategy

  • Develop and execute an annual business development plan to position C1 as the premier partner for Customers and Suppliers within the specified product line.
  • Develop market plans and tactics that support Product Marketing and effectively execute strategic plans with internal stakeholders.
  • Recommend pricing strategies that enhance profitability and increase market share.
  • Research, analyze, and monitor the product category, market trends, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to understand the competitive landscape and recommend strategic and tactical responses.

Customer & Supplier Partnerships

  • Develop and strengthen key Customer and Supplier relationships to drive revenue, margin growth, and Customer satisfaction.
  • Understand key Suppliers’ products, strategies, and technical capabilities to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Communicate Customer and market product/technology needs to the Product Manager and share relevant competitive information with stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with Suppliers to support market and industry growth.

Technical & Commercial Support

  • Serve as a primary technical and commercial resource for the Advanced Resins product category.
  • Partner with Sales Managers to coordinate strategic Customer and Supplier interactions.
  • Visit key Customers with Sellers and Commercial Team members to provide technical support, market and product information, and understand Customer needs.
  • Provide field personnel with technical product and processing information needed to enhance Customer responsiveness.
  • Develop and facilitate technical training, seminars, and supporting tools for Commercial Teams.
  • Participate in industry trade shows and trade associations to support Commercial Teams and Customers.

Product, Inventory & Profitability Management

  • Evaluate product line overlap and provide recommendations to the Product Manager, Suppliers, Supply Chain Managers, and Commercial and Technical Teams.
  • Assist with product category rationalization and inventory maintenance, including identifying opportunities to move aged inventory.
  • Partner with the Product Manager and Supply Chain Managers to leverage product purchases, identify COGS reduction opportunities, and optimize logistics to improve profitability.
  • Transform market data into useful information that can be effectively communicated to key internal and external stakeholders.

Expected Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a technical, business development, B2B marketing, Composites Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related role focused on Advanced Resins.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Composites or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical expertise in Advanced Resins, including pDCPD, Epoxy, Curatives, Urethanes, and related technologies, with the ability to provide effective technical training.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business development strategies that support customer needs and drive growth.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, OEMs, and cross-functional internal teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to analyze market and business data and translate findings into recommendations.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, with the ability to learn internal systems such as Incorta and SAP.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • A proven track record of business development or related commercial success and technical skills is desired for this position.
  • Composites industry experience is a significant plus.
  • Experience with MS Office programs and applications preferred.

Work Location & Travel:

  • This is a remote position; however, candidates should reside within proximity to one of the locations identified in this job posting.

  • Routine travel (up to 70%) is required, including local, national, and international travel to visit customers, engage with suppliers, and attend industry trade shows.

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • This position offers a competitive base salary plus an annual performance-based bonus.

  • A company vehicle and company cell phone are also provided.
