Job Description:
The Bioinformatics JAVA Developer will be involved in converting existing Perl CGI applications to Java Web Services. You will be working with a team to develop and implement an enterprise information management system in a Pharmaceutical environment.
- Develop code using Perl CGI and JAVA
- Write and perform Unit Tests
- Write periodic status / progress reports
- Develop simple or complex software functionality but with limited scope
- Participate in peer reviews of code for coding standards, best practices, functionality, error handling, etc.
- Write basic SQL queries using relational database concepts and schema design principles
- Develop simple or complex, dynamic reports
- Break complex processes into smaller achievable pieces
- Integrate scientific applications with other scientific or non-scientific applications
- Transform client requirements into design solutions
- Design and develop reusable utility/library software for general use
- Engineer designs that satisfy current requirements and are extensible for future enhancement while keeping it cost effective for clients
- Develop very complex / challenging algorithms and software designs having large project scope or large scale
- Perform architectural code and design evaluations
- Write system interfaces using pre-existing middleware
- Perform simple or complex database optimization
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience using JAVA and Perl CGI - a must
- 4 Year degree in an applicable field
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong logical / analytical thinking
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems
- At least 4 years of experience in ELN Development
- 5-8 years of software development experience in Laboratory Informatics projects
- 5-8 years of experience working in regulated environments
Travel requirement : The job location in San Francisco Bay area. Travel is minimal.
