The Role

We are looking to expand our team with a Backend Cloud Engineer!
Our Saas-platform designed for B2B and D2C commerce is API-first and Headless, which means we integrate with ERP systems, CMSs and many other adjacent technologies. Via our GraphQL API the platform ‘talks’ to frontends like WordPress and Vue Storefront. In the meantime customer, product, pricing and stock data is going via our REST API’s from and to Product Distributors, ERP systems, Marketplace integrators, etc.

Requirements
  • Experience with Node.js/TypeScript (preferable), .NET or Java
  • Experience with frameworks like NestJS or Spring Boot and ORMs like TypeORM or Hibernate
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud (preferable), AWS or Azure
  • Preferably some experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ or event streaming platforms like Kafka
  • Hands-on DevOps experience with CI/CD (GitLab, Github Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines) and tools like Docker, Kubernetes or Pulumi/Terraform
  • Use of AI tools and agents like Claude Code/Cursor/Codex
What you’ll do:
  • Work in our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for our software
  • Designing, deploying and managing microservices for our headless API
  • Define, introduce and document best practices and strategies
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
Who you are
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary team which faces new challenges on a daily basis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Innovative, thinks big and not afraid to experiment
  • Collaborative team player
  • Proactive and willing to take initiative
  • Achievement-oriented
  • Adaptable/flexible
  • Detail oriented
The client

Propeller is a fast-growing product company building an AI-driven B2B e-commerce platform. We started with a simple observation: sales teams were drowning in admin and CRM busywork while their e-commerce tools lived in a completely separate world. Our platform brings sales and e-commerce together in one place — giving teams the insights and AI assistance they need to close deals faster and make buying easier for their customers.

B2B commerce is more complex than B2C, so we built our platform alongside real customers from day one rather than working from theoretical ideals. Today we’re integrating AI agents directly into the platform to keep pushing what’s possible.

Our 20+ member team is spread across 5 countries with the HQ in Amsterdam. Our platform is API-first and headless, integrating with ERP systems and CMS platforms (WordPress, Contentful). We primarily use TypeScript with databases like PostgreSQL and Solr. We run a microservices architecture on Google Cloud (Kubernetes, Istio) and use GitLab for CI/CD.

Working hours and location
