Job Description

Responsible for design, development, implementing, sustaining and advancement of customized automated optical manufacturing and test process equipment in a high-precision, laser and optics manufacturing facility. Assists with defining, designing, acquiring, installing, programming and validating appropriate automation equipment. Performs testing, analysis and correlation of process parameters and outcomes; analyzes statistical data of optical, physical, and environmental effects.

Provides support to both engineering and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support of capital equipment definition, development, deployment, programming, maintenance, and improvement in accordance with process development/yield improvement objectives
  • Process control and capability analysis and reporting
  • Support of engineering and manufacturing engineering personnel with evaluating and testing product /prototypes
  • Project/program management duties as assigned
  • Process automation

Education & Experience

  • BS/MS Engineering (ME, EE, Software or other) with experience interacting with remote interfaces on measurement equipment with emphasis on automation.
  • Programming in high level languages such as Java to interact with databases and measurement equipment.
  • Experience with general test instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and signal generators for new setups for evaluating and testing electrical devices.
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP networks and manipulation of Microsoft 365 Datasources.
  • Familiarity with process development/measurement, statistical analysis (SPC) and mechanical layout tools such as Solidworks a plus.
  • Capable of developing, coordinating, programming, wiring, assembling, and validating automating systems involving precision motion controllers, temperature controllers and measurement systems.
  • Working knowledge of optics and lasers a plus.

Skills

  • Proficient problem solver capable of working autonomously
  • Adaptable to dynamic work environments
  • Proficient in Java programming
  • Familiarity with IT considered advantageous
  • Solidworks proficiency is a valuable asset
  • Demonstrates self-motivation and initiative
