As a result of this growth, 2BM/Salute are looking for an experienced Electrical Associate Director, to be based in our Nottingham office, focusing on the Data Centre sector with our Mission Critical team


You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects within this fast-paced sector. 2BM/Salute are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Hyperscale, Colocation Providers, Edge End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.

The role of an Associate Director (Electrical) is a pivotal and highly rewarding position that combines leadership, innovation, and technical expertise. As an Associate Director, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions that ensure the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of data centre operations. This role offers the unique opportunity to help lead a team of skilled engineers, drive strategic initiatives, and collaborate with industry leaders to shape the future of data centre technology. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimising energy consumption, enhancing security protocols, and ensuring seamless integration of emerging technologies.   • Be an integral part of the team’s day-to-day management, vision, values and leadership. Develop team spirit and co-operation. 
  • Develop our client relationships and brand within the UK and EMEA. 
  • Consistently meet monthly and annual budgets at a team level, support with MEP budget planning and continuously look for ways to improve performance. 
  • Work with the directors and senior leadership to develop and implement strategic initiatives in the team and across the wider business. 
  • Drive profitable and sustainable work-winning and maintain up-to-date forecasting for the team and input to the wider MEP service delivery. 
  • Oversee team performance including work pipeline, finance, and operational management. 
  • Work with clients, developers, contractors and architects to build relationships and secure 2bm Salute’s position as the engineer of choice in the industry. 
  • Being the client’s key point of contact. 
  • Understand the need to provide excellent client care & the opportunities to develop additional business for the team. 
  • Work in a joint leadership capacity within a mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) discipline team, providing design and technical advice with a multidisciplinary approach on a wide range of Data Centre projects.
  • Able to work using your own initiative with minimal supervision on all technical aspects of their discipline or have specific specialist experience applicable to the role.
  • Able to work under the clear direction of the client and interpret the needs of the project as a whole to meet the full delivery needs.
  • Supervise the completion of detailed designs and supervise the work of others in this function.
  • Consider the feasibility of the project specific to the discipline and lead the overall feasibility study for the project.
  • Take responsibility for and direct others in the production of detailed and performance specification for the discipline subject to review by colleagues prior to issue.
  • Reviewing design programmes and ensuring that sufficient resource is available to complete the works

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…

An Associate Director (Electrical) in the Data Centres (DC) sector must exhibit a unique blend of technical prowess, leadership, and strategic insight. Key attributes include:
 

  • Either has Chartership through CIBSE/IET/ Engineering Council or open to working towards this. 
  • Electrical Engineering Expertise: A profound understanding of Electrical systems. This design expertise ensures the efficient and reliable operation of data centre infrastructure. 
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: The ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex Electrical challenges is essential. This includes optimising cooling systems to enhance energy efficiency and reduce operational costs. 
  • Leadership and Team Management: Leadership skills are necessary to guide and inspire a team of engineers and technicians. 
  • Strategic Vision: The role requires a forward-thinking approach to anticipate Data Centre industry trends and challenges. Strategic planning and the ability to align electrical engineering initiatives with business goals are vital for long-term success. 
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project management is essential to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of mechanical engineering projects. This includes managing timelines, budgets, and ensuring quality standards are met. 
  • Communication Skills: Have an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively; to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and present ideas to senior management. 
  • Adaptability: The DC sector is rapidly evolving, and a Electrical Associate Director must be adaptable to new technologies, industry standards, and changing business needs. 
  • Customer Focus: Understanding and addressing the needs of clients and end-users is critical. An Electrical Associate Director should prioritise customer satisfaction and ensure that electrical systems meet or exceed expectations. 
  • A proficient understanding of how to operate Microsoft Office and AutoCAD would be preferable.
  • Candidates with NICEIC Qualifications, Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification, NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services, AM2 Assessment, would be desirable
     


Associate level is preferred; however, we're equally keen to hear from ambitious Principal Engineers who have already established themselves as trusted client advisers and are looking for the opportunity to step into a broader leadership role.


You'll ideally have:

  • Significant consultancy experience delivering electrical building services projects.
  • Strong project leadership and client-facing experience.
  • The confidence to build long-term client relationships and support business development activities.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in helping grow an established regional business.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
     

Key technical requirements:
 

  • Having an understanding of the UK and European regulations applicable to the discipline and how to demonstrate this in project execution.
  • Have UK project experience within Building Services MEP
  • Proven working understanding of latest electrical design software packages to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
  • Show an understanding of working with Revit MEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
  • Have an ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically and effectively.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.

Other information: The role is a full-time position, and your base salary will be commensurate with experience but is expected to be highly competitive. The opportunity is located at our Nottingham office and will involve frequent travel to client sites in the UK.
