The Role
The Associate Director will lead AHP’s analytics and data products domain, building curated datasets, transformation pipelines, semantic models, dashboards, and automated reporting. Responsibilities include delivering client and enterprise data products, establishing reporting standards, managing production refreshes and documentation, coordinating data engineering resources, and supporting AI initiatives. The role is hands-on, client-facing, and requires technical leadership across distributed project teams.
Summary Generated by Built In

AHP is building a Data Office and hiring the Associate Director, Analytics and Data Products to build and ship its data products: the curated datasets, pipelines, semantic models, dashboards, and automated reporting that AHP’s leadership and client engagements depend on.

AHP (www.ahpnet.com) is a consulting and research firm specializing in health and behavioral health, offering technical assistance and training, system and program development, resource development and dissemination, and research and evaluation.

AHP’s work is project based and distributed: staff across divisions and offices carry many concurrent federal, state, and local client engagements, each with its own data requirements. The Data Office’s standards and products have to hold across that footprint.

The Associate Director, Analytics and Data Products reports to the Director of Data Practice and works directly with the Chief Data Officer on strategy. This is a senior practitioner role: the role runs the analytics and delivery domain and is hands-on, especially in the first year. Full-time. AHP is headquartered in Sudbury, MA, with offices in Massachusetts, Illinois, California, and Arizona.

Responsibilities
  • Own the build: curated datasets, transformation pipelines, semantic models, and the reporting layer on top of them, for enterprise reporting and for client-facing data products.
  • Deliver scoped engagements end to end: define done with the project director or executive sponsor as a decision the product has to support, manage the build plan, and keep delivery visible against it.
  • Implement the enterprise reporting standard in the build: one definition per metric, traceable from dashboard to source, validated in the pipeline rather than checked after the fact. Set that standard with the Methods & Standards Lead.
  • Run production: refresh cycles, access, version control, documentation, and the transition of consultant-built and legacy reports into maintained products. Build the dashboard and reporting templates that project teams reuse from the Data Office toolkit, and custom products where templates are not enough.
  • Coordinate data engineering work with Digital Solutions and the analyst and BI resources assigned to Data Office work.
  • Carry the Data Office’s build contributions to AI work (led by Digital Solutions). AI-related requests move through the same intake as everything else.
Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative or technical field, or equivalent experience building and running analytics delivery.
  • Hands-on build depth: strong SQL, production data transformations (dbt or comparable), and Power BI or Domo at the semantic model and dataset level, not only the visual layer.
  • Experience with cloud warehouse or lakehouse platforms, for example Redshift and Databricks, which AHP runs today. Other platforms come into play as client work requires.
  • Track record delivering analytics that leaders and clients act on, under deadline and across stakeholders with different priorities.
  • Enough analytic and methods fluency to implement a definition correctly and recognize an analysis that does not hold. At least one of R, Python, Stata, or SAS.
  • Ability to lead technical work and set standards for staff who do not report to you. Client-facing credibility; behavioral health, health, or federal and state contract data experience is a plus.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Research suggests that women and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) individuals may self-select out of opportunities if they do not meet 100 percent of the job requirements. At AHP, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
