Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Orlando office, supporting our Nursing Home Defense practice. This is a full-time, in-office position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
About the Role
The Associate Attorney will represent healthcare providers and long-term care facilities in all phases of complex nursing home litigation. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators while managing cases from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and committed to delivering exceptional client service in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Manage a caseload involving nursing home and long-term care defense matters
- Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
- Handle all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery and preparing for depositions
- Attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and court appearances
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation and exhibit organization
- Maintain regular communication with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and team members
- Ensure compliance with court deadlines and maintain organized case files
- Provide timely reporting and strategic recommendations to clients
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing with the Florida Bar
- 2+ years of civil litigation experience; nursing home, medical malpractice, healthcare defense, or general liability experience preferred
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation practice
- Experience handling hearings, depositions, and court appearances is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
