We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing European SaaS company that builds a cloud-based Quality Management System for the Life Sciences industry. The company is now adding AI capabilities to the platform: an assistant that answers questions across quality records and documents, and services that extract structured data from documents. The engineering team is fully remote.
What you’ll do:
- Build an AI assistant that answers questions across quality data, records and documents
- Build RAG with source citations, with retrieval strictly limited to the correct tenant and to what the user is allowed to see
- Build document extraction services that produce validated, structured data with references to their sources
- Design data models for quality information and extracted content
- Build backend services, REST APIs and tool integrations, with unit and integration tests
- Co-own AI evaluation with QA and Product: reference datasets, expected results, release criteria
- Run your services in production: reliability, response time, model usage costs
- Champion AI adoption in the team, and mentor junior developers
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on backend development; strong Python
- LLM features you have delivered and operated in production, not just prototypes
- Hands-on experience with RAG and/or tool calling
- Experience evaluating LLM features: reference datasets, automated checks, human review
- REST API design; message buses and queues
- Strong data modelling and SQL (PostgreSQL or MySQL)
- Containerised services on a cloud platform, CI/CD, logging, tracing and monitoring
- Solid unit and integration testing, mocking strategies, secure coding
- Fluent English, written and spoken
- High autonomy: you drive your own work without close supervision

- Experience in regulated domains (GxP, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11)
