As an AI Operations Manager within our Core AI and Machine Learning Group, you will be responsible for governing, tracking, and increasing the overall financial effectiveness of the AI platforms, LLMs (internal and external), and AI software used at Tower Research Capital. This role will focus on cost management, cross-platform attribution, and optimization, and in it, you will be responsible for internal token management, attribution, consolidation, reporting, controls, and governance.
You will report directly to the Global Head of Core AI & ML
- Designing and managing the firm’s token management, cost attribution, and chargeback processes; implementing robust tracking and tagging across AI platforms, tools, and usage.
- Defining and implementing AI cost strategies and governance policies aligned with business objectives, including monitoring token-based pricing trends and managing project-level budgets and costs.
- Developing and analyzing comprehensive financial reports to track AI spend, usage metrics, and cost optimization opportunities; communicating insights to senior stakeholders across Trading and Engineering.
- Collaborating with and supporting internal stakeholders to drive cost-efficiency use cases, ensuring optimal utilization of AI tools without financial leakage.
- Collaborating with global AI platforms, providers, and enterprise vendors to review and negotiate contracts, including commercials, usage-based pricing, and committed-use discounts in partnership with Enterprise and Procurement teams.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and leading optimization efforts across AI consumption (internal and external LLMs), including model routing and prompt optimization strategies; supporting regional teams for L1 operations and acting as the escalation point for major AI-related incidents.
- Experience in technology cost management, including cost tracking, reporting to stakeholders, cross-platform cost management, and granular cost attribution
- Expertise in AI pricing models, including tokens as a unit of measure, context window weighting, provisioned throughput, and usage-based pricing structures
- Experience with AI tools and platforms, including day-to-day usage and leveraging them for data analytics and operational efficiency
- Knowledge of optimizing cost structures and providing alternative contracting strategies to minimize financial leakage across internal and external LLMs
- Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and data-driven decision-making skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively in high-pressure environments
- A background in top buy-side institutions (hedge funds, prop trading firms), with the ability to act as a reliable and dependable partner to internal teams, senior stakeholders, and external counterparties
- Familiarity with specific AI providers and enterprise tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic,
AWS Bedrock, and Cursor - Technical familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks and platforms, specifically
LangChain and LangGraph, and their respective impact on resource consumption - Familiarity with AI observability and inventory systems such as LangSmith, Langfuse,
or Helicone, and cloud-billing platforms such as AWS Cost Explorer
