The Pay Range:
$21.42 - $31.25 per hour
Our compensation structure is designed to accommodate candidates with diverse levels of expertise and experience, offering opportunities for growth over time. The target hiring range for this role is $21.42- $24.02
A day in the life of an ACU ACCOUNTANT I:
- Prepare assigned general ledger reconciliations, retain appropriate supporting documentation, research reconciling items, and ensure exceptions are resolved or escalated within established timeframes.
- Prepare accurate and timely daily and monthly accounting reports and complete assigned daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities within established close and reporting deadlines.
- Assist in month-end close procedures
- Ensure accurate accounting for the fixed asset and prepaid asset portfolios. Prepare depreciation schedules and catalog furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Perform accounts payable processing
- Prepare routine journal entries with complete and accurate supporting documentation.
- Recognize and resolve discrepancies in general ledger accounts
- Work with Controller and other Accounting staff to prepare for annual external audits and NCUA examinations
- Respond to accounting-related questions from branches and departments, research transaction discrepancies, and provide accurate guidance or route matters to the appropriate resource.
- Provide exceptional service to all members, volunteers, staff, and service providers
- Follow established internal controls, approval requirements, and documentation standards.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, consistent with the general scope and level of the position.
Education:
Minimum associate degree or 2-year vocational certificate or equivalent accounting experience.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Practices
- Proficient using computers and software including Symitar, Excel, Microsoft Word, 10-Key calculator, and other office equipment.
- Attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve and research when necessary
- Knowledge of credit union products, services, policies, regulations, and procedures
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills; be highly motivated and well organized
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information
- Intermediate mathematical and account skills
