Jesi Mullins: Hi, I'm Jesi with Built In, and welcome to the United We Tech series, where we showcase the culture, people, and tech at innovative companies. Today we're looking at ZS. ZS is a management consulting and technology firm that works side by side with companies to help drive customer value and solve their business challenges. Joining me today, it's Priya and Gayatri. Welcome everyone. Let's get started.

About ZS

ZS is a global management consulting and technology firm that helps companies solve complex business challenges and improve performance by combining strategy, analytics, data science and technology.

Jesi Mullins: Okay, so I'm going to start with Priya. What made you want to work at ZS?

Priya Seth: It was the positive feedback from all my friends who were already part of ZS for quite a long time. They would keep telling me about the ZS value: how they treat people right and do the right thing. ZS also focuses on collaboration and excellence. That really resonated with me. Also, ZS emphasizes having a culture of inclusion and diversity. As a women in tech, that really sounded appealing to me — to be part of an organization where I knew that everyone's contribution would be rewarded and valued.

Jesi Mullins: Gayatri, what's the larger societal impact that your work at ZS makes?

Gayatri Buddha: At the end of the day, when I'm working with my clients, I am so close to the impact on healthcare systems. Being so close, it's almost like being two degrees removed from the kind of impact a patient will experience. I think that truly is what wakes me up on Monday morning.

Jesi Mullins: And Priya, what is exciting about the tech at ZS?

Priya Seth: ZS has always been forefront when it comes to technology and innovation. They always try to leverage advanced analytics, AI, prompt engineering, and machine learning. And by using that, we are providing a solution to our clients. And what particularly excites here is how we harness the technology to help the client overcome the business challenge they are facing and come up with an impactful outcome.

Gayatri Buddha: If we go back to the heritage of ZS, it's very analytics-driven or data-driven. And that ethos actually translates into every aspect of how we're thinking of a solution, whether it is an R&D problem or a supply chain problem or a marketing problem.

Jesi Mullins: What would surprise people about ZS?

Gayatri Buddha: ZS is known for its very high-quality delivery. We are known as very humble and very collaborative. What would surprise people is that when you join ZS, you actually see all of that. And you would see that repeatedly in every team that you work with.

Priya Seth: I absolutely agree with Gayatri because when a company has certain values, principles and guidelines, at times you see that those are not being followed across the organization. But when it comes to ZS — be it on any project, workstream or domain — you will see those values being followed. It's consistent across the organization.

Jesi Mullins: Well, that was a very fun conversation, but I think it's time for something a little different. This is what we call the lightning round. I'm going to ask you a series of questions, 30 seconds on the clock. First thought, best thought. Let's go. Gayatri, describe the people of ZS in one word.

Gayatri Buddha: Supportive.

Jesi Mullins: Priya, is ZS analytical or creative?

Priya Seth: Analytical.

Jesi Mullins: Gayatri, is ZS rowdy or introspective?

Gayatri Buddha: Oh, definitely not rowdy. Introspective.

Jesi Mullins: Priya, is ZS stick to the plan or improvise?

Priya Seth: I actually think both, but yes, stick to the plan.

Jesi Mullins: Oh, Gayatri, if ZS was a TV show, what TV show would they be?

Gayatri Buddha: Oh, that's a good one. I think it is the fun show that has just come out on Netflix, Psych.

Jesi Mullins: Okay, so as a huge Psych fan, Gayatri, why do you think ZS is a Psych?

Gayatri Buddha: I think it's because we deduce a lot of things. We're pulling things together. We don't take anything at face value. And we have fun when we work with each other. That's why.

Jesi Mullins: Well, I think that's a pretty good place for us to wrap up. I want to thank my guests Priya and Gayatri for an inside look at ZS. This has been United We Tech. I'll see you next time.
