My name is Govind Menon, senior manager for program management at Magna.
My name is Michelle Figueroa, and I am a system engineer at Magna.
I'm Ryan Strand, a senior systems engineer in the advanced engineering group at Magna.
Govind Menon: Magna is a company that offers customized and innovative solutions for the automotive market globally.
Michelle Figueroa: I get to work with a bunch of different groups — extremely intelligent people — to make sure that our designs are correctly made. It's most fun I've had.
Interviewer: Do you feel like you get to think outside the box here?
Ryan Strand: Yeah, especially in advanced engineering, we have the opportunity to come up with new ideas, check their feasibility. I've been apart of some really cool projects that are outside of the box trying to push the industry forward.
Interviewer: How would you describe the culture here?
Govind Menon: The culture here at Magna is very entrepreneurial in nature. That's one aspect I have not seen in any of the other companies that I've worked at. Magna really gives you the opportunities to grow while making the company successful.
Interviewer: Have you had mentors here?
Michelle Figueroa: I've had quite a bit of mentorship. I'm very thankful for the people that I've worked with and the advice that people have been willing to give me, whether that be professionally or personally, and I've been able to grow a lot here as a result.
Ryan Strand: One of the company values that really resonates with me is 'innovation.' A big part of our company thrives on that and there are a lot of resources and effort put back into that so that we can develop new, cool products to meet the latest and greatest challenges.
Govind Menon: Magna takes diversity and inclusion extremely seriously to a point where you don’t even notice it. It comes very naturally for us and it makes me very proud to be part of such a team where you feel that you are supported no matter which part of the world you come from.
Michelle Figueroa: What pushes me forward to do better is being challenged, whether that be by our customers with new requirements, or internal business challenges. It makes me want to do better and it makes me have to think critically about what I'm doing.
Interviewer: Are there learning opportunities?
Ryan Strand: There are a lot of learning opportunities here at Magna, whether you want to learn something inside of your own competency, whether it's mechanical or electrical, or outside of that to try to keep up with the pace of the industry.
Govind Menon: If you really have the passion and if you're willing to work hard, there is no limit to what you can do at Magna. You can go all the way up the career ladder, be it on the technical side of stuff or the management side of stuff. You are given multiple options to develop yourself.
