There is no denying Android’s dominance anymore. Android is winning. But startups still think iOS is the place to begin, and we think they should be considering Android instead.
When we began, we made the choice to launch our app Pictarine only o[ibimage==18590==Small==none==self==ibimage_align-right]n Android. We were among the first startups to launch on Android before iOS. The main reason we chose Android was that we believe a great product can only be created thanks to quick iterations with users feedback. Apple reviews products for at least one week before approving them for their App Store, while on Google Play you can publish updates in one hour! We discovered some major bugs during our first few days, and having chosen Android allowed us to publish updates every day to fix them. In four days, we fixed the major bugs and people changed their reviews at each update and encouraged us. Our ratings improved and this enabled the app to increase in popularity.
Our advice would be that if you launch a new product on mobile, don't choose iOS because everyone is doing it, but take the time to consider the pros and the cons of each platform. And we are very excited because Pictarine got more than 10,000 downloads in 10 days! We' d love to hear your thoughts on the differences between mobile platforms.
