AT&T to test 5G wireless data in Austin this year
The mobile carrier initially criticized competitor Verizon’s announcement last year that it would roll out 5G service by 2017, noting 5G standards won’t even be set until 2018. But AT&T has since come around, announcing earlier this week it will begin testing it outdoors later this year. The technology is expected to deliver speeds between 10 and 100 times faster than 4G.
