It was an incredible night for Chicago tech community and startups on Thursday, as both Tech Cocktail and Lean Startups Invade 1871 hosted events for the sharing and discovery of ideas and talent. I feel very connected to this community as my company was born out of these types of events. Many of the companies we have gone on to help shape we met at these events. These events are what helps give us our indentity. Open. Poised. Moving forward.
Of all the fantastic people we met, there is one character we can always rely on to sour the night. Everyone I know in the tech community has a story. I can take the verbal abuse. I get it.
WHAT I WILL NOT STAND FOR IS THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT THAT TAKES PLACE AT THESE EVENTS.
I don't see how we can take the Chicago tech community seriously if we are allowing female leaders to be embarrassed at the very events that incubate the relationships that help make us who we are. IT MUST STOP.
Times have changed. It's not funny. Change your ways or stop coming to these events. You're poisoning our well.
