Math is hard. Oovium is easy.
Oovium is a revolution in the way we learn and use mathematics, with applications from physics to finance. It’s a computer and touch device-based environment for deriving, solving and graphing math equations with immediate feedback that keeps users engaged and prevents them from making minor errors so they can focus on solving problems.
Have you ever lost points because you forgot to carry a one? Have you ever wished you could check an answer immediately to know if you need to rework it? Have you ever wondered if the math you learn in school has any value in the real world?
You’re not alone: math majors in U.S. universities face the second-lowest average GPA and the highest exit rate, and math-related disciplines have grown the slowest of all studies over the past 20 years. Students of other disciplines avoid learning math relevant to their own studies because of the same barriers.
We believe math can be learned and used effectively within any field without this much of a struggle. Oovium leverages new technologies to provide users a flexible and modern interface in which they can create, edit, solve, analyze and graph equations and work through proofs while receiving continual feedback on the correctness of their work. Oovium does not generate difficult solutions at the frontier of mathematics (but its users can!); it is rather an environment in which users can generate their own solutions absent the careless errors that impede the study of math on paper, freeing them to worry about the deeper implications of their work rather than whether they remembered to carry out a simple operation on the other side of an equation.
Computer scientists have compilers that check their work before it runs; Oovium gives mathematicians a similar “compiler” to check their work without requiring that they become expert programmers as well. Oovium also saves users’ work so they won’t have to reinvent solutions or proofs every time, and it relates their content to a library of similar work completed by other users to motivate interest in relevant further study.
In short, Oovium adapts the study of math to the way we now learn.
