NEye Systems, a company that develops optical switches for data centers, announced a Series B round worth $58 million. This round, which was led by investor CapitalG, brings the company’s total funding to $72.5 million.

NEye Systems specializes in optical switch technology, working to resolve communication bottlenecks in data centers, high-performance computing, AI and machine learning systems. Compared to many current infrastructures, nEye Systems provides a more energy-efficient and cost-effective solution that offers data centers nearly unlimited bandwidth, according to the company.

“We are thrilled to have the support of CapitalG and our other esteemed investors as we scale our optical switch technology,” Ming Wu, co-founder of nEye Systems, said in a statement. “Our wafer-scale approach, backed by years of research at UC Berkeley, positions us to transform the AI fabric and enable the next generation of high-performance computing.”
