Microsoft has acquired Austin-based Incent Games Inc., owner and developer of FantasySalesTeam. In the coming months Microsoft will integrate this service into their own sales process. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
To make selling more competitive, engaging and fun, the FantasySalesTeam has built an online platform that organizes sales contests around the rules of popular sports like baseball, basketball and football. Using the FST platform sales representatives compete against each other, and on teams together, trying to score points by making additional sales calls, closing additional sales and adding new customers.
"With Microsoft’s focus on productivity and our obsession with customer success, this acquisition is a great fit," Bob Stutz, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft Dynamics CRM, said in a blog post. "To help drive adoption of our CRM solutions in fun and creative ways, we are integrating FantasySalesTeam into our offering. Our focus continues to be on not only providing the best solutions to our customers, but also helping them be wildly successful."
FantasySalesTeam had raised $1.4 million in funding since its founding in 2012. Clients includ large corporations like Comcast, HP, Michelin and Siemens.
"FantasySalesTeam represents the best of an entrepreneurial spirit that takes a wholly fresh look at age old challenges and delivers a unique, original and innovative answer," Stutz said. "It’s the very embodiment of reinventing productivity and we are happy to welcome them into the fold, to share these great capabilities with our customers and to explore ways to expand this concept to other areas of the business in exciting and creative ways."
