Infravision, an Austin-based builder of power grids using aerial robotics, has appointed Frank Tybor as chief technology officer to lead its global engineering and product organizations and advance the company’s system for next-generation automated grid construction.

According to the announcement on Thursday, Tybor joins Infravision from Think Orbital, where he led the team behind the first autonomous welds performed in space. He previously held engineering roles at Energy Vault and SpaceX.

The announcement follows Infravision’s recent $91 million Series B funding round led by GIC.

Infravision said the combination of Tybor’s appointment and the new investment will help scale operations across North America and expand its technology globally.
