It's Christmas week! I thought I'd have a bit of fun on the ATAK blog. We all know Santa's reindeer will soon be visiting rooftops around the world. In my post this week, I have assigned website home pages to each of the 9 reindeer that pull his sleigh.
1. Dasher: The email collection or buy button only website. You have 1 choice, and this website gets straight to it.
2. Dancer: The animated header image, enticing you with a personable, heartwarming video. (Or in the case of AirBnB.com, a jump-inducing video that waits five seconds to start moving)
3. Prancer: The website with fly-in icons and elements that bounce into view as you scroll across them.
4. Vixen: Large, caps-lock type with a CMYK color scheme. BAM.
5. Comet: front page slider that takes up your entire screen, changing every second. There’s barely any time to read, it’s got so much to tell you!
6. Cupid: The handwritten font landing page. Everything looks hand drawn, and straight out of a high-grossing Etsy shop.
7. Donner: A full-window pre-roll ad that autoplays with audio. (Did you know Donner’s name is based on the dutch word for thunder?)
8. Blitzen: A full-window popover form with an impossible – to – locate close button. You blitz in the other direction!
9. Rudolph: The website you see once and dismiss as a gimmicky tool, until it solves the exact problem you have.
